We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers That Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.
And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some --and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!
AN (sparkly): Alright, sorry this day is so late, I remembered we didn't actually have one up, so here is this drabble. Uh, spoilers for season fives "The Ghost in the Machine". You don't really need to have seen it, but it would make more sense. I personally loved the ep and with all that angst just written on John's face I knew I had to write something. It's kinda from Elizabeth's point of view.
She was so close to being home. She doesn't want to do this. So much has gone wrong and now she's screaming inside. Yes, she's being selfish, but isn't there a chance the plan could still work? Everything inside of her is telling her to stay where he heart is. She deserves to. And yet, she's the one who suggested this. She thinks of Teyla and her baby boy and of Rodney and the others. She sees him; catches his face. It's full of grief. Neither of them wants this and that's comforting in a small way. She doesn't want to leave this place, but then she is looking into his eyes. The two share a short moment of understanding before he lowers his green slits, full of pain.
He's letting her do this for their – his – people.
She's doing it for them too, but she's doing this mainly for him. She wants him to be safe. Even if that means being away from her.
So with him as her last thoughts, with one last look, she strongly takes the hardest steps she's ever made, through the gate where she will be effectively shut down and away from John Sheppard for what is most likely forever.
