Author's Notes: The following was made in honor of Joe Astor/Michael Payton, based off a pair of scenes in the two-part pilot episode, which focused on his reflection - or lack thereof - in the mirror. ...Also ties into a story I wrote "A Look In the Mirror." Viper belongs to Pet Fly productions (the car belongs to Dodge). All characters belong to Pet Fly.

"Who Am I?"

I touch the cool dark glass,
And it registers my hand.
I look beyond my grasp,
But no face can I command.

What nightmare haunts me so
To conceal my face from view?
I search for "long ago,"
But my memories are new.

Chorus:
When I look into the mirror,
I don't know who I am.
Every day I feel I'm nearer,
But I still don't understand.

I lost a part of me
In a horror, unknown how.
Now, I ask my memory,
"Who am I right now?"

There's a shadow hunting me.
It's taking back my mind.
I see faces in a sea
of meanings undefined.

There's a past in that black.
But a voice says, "Let it go."
And to the present I blink back,
To the friends that I now know.

Chorus:
When I look into the mirror,
I don't know who I am.
Every day I feel I'm nearer,
But I still don't understand.

I lost a part of me
In a horror, unknown how.
Now, I ask my memory,
"Who am I right now?"

I touch the silver mirror,
And the sunlight lights my face.
Today, is far more dearer
Than that foreboding place.

Though I yearn for the identity,
Of the person I once was.
It's not worth the lives surrounding me.
A person's what he does.

Chorus:
When I look into the mirror,
I don't know who I am.
Every day I feel I'm nearer,
But I still don't understand.

I lost a part of me
In a horror, unknown how.
But I tell my memory,
"I am who I am now."
Yes, I tell my memory
I am who I am now.
