It was fine day in the royal courtyard. Playing cards played as the pawns on the chessboard carried out the orders the king gave them.
The King & Queen of Hearts sat on their throne. Occasional outbursts of, "Delete, delete!" could be heard from the Queen. The king seemed unfazed by this. Perhaps a more observant and daring person to get up off their knees and open their eyes would notice his mouth was turned up at the corners, painting a slight smirk on his face. Far off, beyond all the halls, large decorative rooms, staircases, kitchens, maid's chambers and so on, the Ex-Queen of Hearts, usurped and deleted, resided in the dungeons like a painted porcelain doll in pretty frills. No more than a child's plaything. No more than a system error. Cobwebs and dust outlined her dark, dreary figure. And a thin whisper escaped from her barely-moving lips, "Off with his head…"
