Nadine spotted Nikolas waiting for her on the docks she had asked him to meet her there to talk about why she had left in such a rush that morning. "Nikolas," she called causing him to turn towards her voice but the next thing he knew she was tumbling down the stairs.
Racing over to her side he gently lifted her head into his hands, "Nadine, Nadine can you hear me.
"Mmmph, she groaned in pain as she opened her eyes.
"Hey are you ok?"
"I…I think so but my ankle hurts."
"I'm going to take you to the hospital to make sure, ok."
Arriving at the hospital Nikolas helped Nadine into a wheelchair and watched as they wheeled her away, she seemed fine on the way over just a little dizzy and she had said that her ankle hurt. He had been waiting a few minutes when Elizabeth came over and sat beside him, "Hey Nik what happened?"
"She fell down the stairs on the docks. Is she gonna be ok?"
"Yeah she'll be just fine; she just has a few bruises and a sprained ankle."
"You really like her don't you?"
"Yeah but I don't know if she feels the same way."
"What of course she does. I have seen the way she looks at you."
"I know I thought that too until this morning."
"We spent the night together and we were about to eat breakfast together when she raced out of there so fast."
"You made her breakfast? Elizabeth replied with a grin.
"No Alfred brought it in like he always does."
"There's your problem I mean come on it probably freaked her out."
"Yeah she's not used to your world, look just talk to her."
Nikolas stood when he spotted Nadine coming towards him; she was limping and went to help her out. "Hey, how you feeling."
"I'm ok but my ego is just as bruised as my face is," she replied.
"Come on I'll drive you home," he said with a smile.
On the drive home he remembered that she had called him earlier before the fall because she wanted to tell him something, "Hey what were you going to tell me earlier?"
"What?" she said turning to look at him as he stared out the front window.
"Before you fell you called me remember?"
"Oh ya, I wanted to explain why I ran out this morning. Last night meant so much to me I mean I have been waiting for that to happen for the longest time and then it happened and it was perfect. But then your butler came in with breakfast and you two were talking and it was awkward. I mean it felt like I was just a part of you routine like it was nothing new or special, like you do it all the time. And I don't mean to sound like I'm accusing you of sleeping around or anything it's just. I don't know," she said desperately trying to explain.
"You know you talk too much sometimes," he said with a laugh as he parked the car. "But I like that about you, you know."
"Yeah, this morning when you left I felt like you were the one who didn't care about what happened between us. And I'm sorry if I made you feel that way."
"I'm sorry too."
"Hey how about you come stay at Wyndemere at least until you're better."
"Alright, she replied as he leaned in to kiss her.
When they finally pulled apart Nikolas started the engine again and before pulling out on the road he turned to her and said, "I guess you really did fall for me, huh." As they both started to laugh he pulled the car back onto the road and headed for home.
