My Guardian, My Love

I recall

How despairing his eyes were

When he meditated.

How I desired to cheer him.

I recall

How drained his face looked

When he bared to me

The darkness in his soul.

I recall

How faint his body was

On that night

In the fireflies' dim glow.

I recall

The joy in his eyes

When I finally told him

"Welcome Home."

I recall

How stern he told me

I was too easily trusting.

Even though it was of him.
