Inspired by the song: "The Coldest Heart" by The Classic Crime.
His heart is frozen over.
He knows it. His crew knows it. She, most of all, knows it.
What is there that he can do?
He's tried to ignore the pain and force away all that he's lived with for so long. He's tried to convince himself that there is more than to living than following his beliefs – that the Alliance is a bunch of leprous humps – and that he doesn't need to waste his time on them anymore.
He's tried, but in the end, it's always the icy blade stabbing through him that reins him in. He's too focused on the Alliance and memories of the war to let anything else in.
He's cold inside; he doesn't mean to be, but that's just how it is.
