We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers That Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.

And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some --and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!

Author's Note (Beth - Formerly Ya Betcha): This is the first story of a two part series (October 22 is the date for the second part). Hope you enjoy!

Dinner...

by Beth - Formerly Ya Betcha

"John." Elizabeth greeted with a questioning smile.

"Elizabeth." He replied as he picked up the stapler on her desk with a mischievous grin on his face.

"What is it?"

"Hmm?"

"You aren't here to tell me more far-fetched excuses explaining why you haven't finished your mission reports." She leaned forward in her chair. "Or are you?"

"Nope." He set the stapler back down and extended his hand. "Come on."

She glanced at his hand suspiciously. Half of her screamed to take his hand and run but her other half sternly told her to question the plans of the child-like colonel. Her reasonable side won out. "Where are you going?"

"It's where are 'we' going." He informed her. "I can't tell you."

"John…"

"It's a surprise." He grinned. "Come on, it'll be fun."

Elizabeth logically considered his proposition for all of a half of a second before throwing logic to the wind. She grasped his hand and let him lead her from her office with a half-hearted grumble. "I swear Colonel; sometimes I think you think your job is to keep me from getting anything done."

"Isn't it?" John questioned cheekily.

She gave him an exasperated look as he led her into the transporter. They stepped out of the transporter and she glanced around. "Where are we?"

"One of the empty sections of the city. It's been checked out but it's kind of out of the way so no one comes here." He escorted her to a closed door. It opened.

"Oh." She paused in the doorway and stared at the table in the middle of the room. A vase filled with red flowers sat in the middle of the table between two lit candles that stood on tall candlesticks. A small CD player sat in the corner and soft music poured from its speakers.

John smiled at her shocked expression. He pulled out one of the two chairs at the table and waited for her to sit down. He sat down opposite her and asked. "Surprised?"

"Very."

Elizabeth watched John as they walked back to the transporters. She stopped right outside their doors and turned to face him. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled.

"It was sweet of you." Elizabeth paused then leaned forward and kissed his cheek. She smiled as she stepped into the transporters. "Thanks again."

John nodded, speechless, with his mouth wide-open in shock and a stunned expression on his face. Wow.

And part one is finished. Be sure to check out part two!
