We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers that Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you, and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.
And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some fun--and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!
Author's Note (Beth - Formerly Ya Betcha): And here is the sequel to "October 18: Dinner . . .". Hope you enjoy!
. . . And A Dance
by Beth - Formerly Ya Betcha
The doorbell chimed and Elizabeth shouted over her shoulder. "Come in."
"You all ready to go in the morning?" John questioned as he stepped into her apartment.
"Yes. How about you? Are you ready for the ball?"
"Yeah." He made a face and she smiled.
"What's the face for?"
"I don't know. A ball. It just seems weird."
"Hmm. Well, it will only be one night." Elizabeth leaned against her desk. "At least you won't turn into a pumpkin at midnight."
"And there's dancing. So that makes it better."
"You like dancing?"
"Sometimes. Depends who I'm dancing with." John took a step forward and bowed. "May I have this dance?"
"To what music?"
"I can hum."
Elizabeth laughed. She faked a curtsy. She placed one hand in his and her other hand around his neck. He placed his hand on the small of her back and pulled her towards him.
He gracefully led her around the room in a gliding arc then raised his arm. She twirled under it and slid back into his embrace. "You're good."
John grinned. "Five years of ballroom dance lessons on Saturdays. I hated it but I guess it rubbed off."
"Do you still hate it?" She asked. She remembered the surprise dinner they'd had a few weeks before. Did he have feelings? Ones that matched her own?
"Not at the moment." His eyes answered her silent questions. Her heart started to pound. John leaned forward and slowly, carefully, kissed her. She pulled him closer and kissed back. He pulled away a few minutes later. "Do you like dancing?"
"Yes." Elizabeth smiled. "I like dancing with you."
