Hogwarts was in ruins. Bodies lay everywhere, order-members, students, teachers, Death Eaters. The battle had been going on for hours. Many were injured.
Everyone had stopped to watch the two that would decide the fate of the Wizarding World. Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort stood facing each-other, wands by their side, neither moving. Then Voldemort hissed in parseltongue.
''This is it. Today it will all come to an end.''
''Yes. Years of fighting. I wish that we didn't have to do this. I don't want to do this.'' Harry hissed in answer. No-one understood what the two were saying, but assumed it was a hatefilled argument.
''We have no choice. You must do the spell. It's only two simple words. It's the only way we can ever be together.'' Voldemort said, his sadness lost to all but one.
Tears started to flow from Harry's eyes.''I know. But it doesn't make it any easier. I hate this world for making us suffer like this.''
''Me too.'' Voldemort said with a small sigh.''Do you have the dagger with you? You must act quickly if you don't want them stopping you. And I still don't like the idea of you stabbing yourself.''
''We've been over this before Tom. I can't live without you. And I coated the dagger with basilisk venom so that there is no way they could 'save' me.''
''It's time, my love.'' Tom said.
''I'm so sorry.'' Harry sobbed.
''I love you, Harry!'' Tom closed his eyes.
''I love you too.'' Harry took a big breath and whispered,''Avada Kedavra.''
Tom fell as the green light of the curse hit him. The croud stood stunned as Harry stumbled to Tom's body. Then the cheers broke out. Harry pressed a small kiss to Tom's lips before he took the dagger and a letter out of his pocket. He put the letter on the ground and closed his eyes. ''Goodbye.'' With that he pushed the dagger to his heart and layed down next to Tom.
When people noticed him, it was already too late. Harry was dead, next to his loved one.
The two lovers lay dead on the grounds of their first true home. In life, they were separated by the prophesy and those around them. In death they could finally be together. For eternity.
