The Living Word

This is the history of the day that the sun rose small and yellow for the first time over Charn. In the time before the sun was born, the world was a dead world. The sort of death that comes before there has ever been life.

In that time of neither day nor night, neither sun nor stars, there was one in the appearance of a man standing erect on the heights. Compared to the men of the world of Adam he was a giant but to the men who would come to rule in this world he was of normal stature. His hair and long beard were thick and dark and he had the look of an ancient king both wise and joyful. He looked with great joy on the emptiness below him as though he saw what it would become rather than only what it was.

He spoke a word, The Living Word. No ceremonies were needed for it's magic to take effect. With the Living word he brought forth the young sun and formed the tall, jagged, majestic mountains from the earth and filled the oceans with dancing waves. With the Living Word he grew grass and plants of many kinds, from tall forests to tiny flowers. He created animals of many species, dragons, gryphons and many other creatures that have never been imagined in the world of Adam. Everything made with care and everything filled with life.

And lastly, with the living word he created thinking beings like himself. Beings that can create and love like himself. Beings made to find joy in and to govern this world and so that they could know Him and be His. They were the first man and woman. He called them by their names and they knew his voice.

That single word contained all the life to fill the void of that empty world. The word came from the Man Himself. In a way that is difficult to describe the Man was the Word. The Living word was and is the source of all life in this world and all others.

The Living word is more powerful than the deplorable word which great kings have feared and sworn to secrecy. For the deplorable word is merely an evil twisted form of this Living Word. What is greater to create life or destroy it? Any fool can destroy a piece of art but it takes an artist to create one.
