Dear Mr. Jesus,

I just had to write to you

Something really scared me,

when I saw it on the news

A story 'bout a little girl

beaten black and blue

Jesus, thought I'd take this right to you

A little 10 year old girl named Sally sat in the corner of her room, hugging her knees tightly. Why was she so scared?

Because her mommy and stepfather were gone, leaving her alone with her drunk grandmother.

And ever sense her husband's heart attack, her grandmother would beat her. Screaming and yelling.

Dear Mr. Jesus

I don't understand

Why they took her Mom and Dad away

I know that they don't mean to hit revolt of angry hands

Tell them just how big they are I pray

Sally hated her grandmother, and when she tried to tell her mommy…she wouldn't believe her.

"SALLY CARRERA GET YOUR FUCKING ASS IN HERE!" Her drunk grandmother screamed.

Slowly, Sally got up and opened her door, walking over to her grandmother's room.

Please don't let them hurt your children

We need love and shelter from the storm

Please don't let them hurt your children

Won't you keep us safe and warm

The smell of cigarettes smoke made Sally cough. "Y-Yes grandma?"

Her grandmother looked over at her, her eyes filled with pure anger. "Get over here." She ordered.

Sally nodded and slowly walked over to her grandmother.

Dear Mr. Jesus

they say that she may die

Oh I hope the doctors stop the pain

I know that you could save her and take her up to the sky

So she would never have to hurt again

Sally's grandmother got up and the first thing she did, was slap Sally's face, hard.

Sally whimpered, feeling tears in her eyes, she put her hand on her wound.

Her grandmother got up and walked over to Sally, getting right in her face.

Please don't let them hurt your children

We need love and shelter from the storm

Please don't let them hurt your children

Won't you keep us safe and warm

Her breath smelled like brandy. "You better fucking listen next time." She hissed.

Sally had enough and finally shouted, "I didn't do anything!"

Angrily, her grandmother grabbed Sally's arm and threw her hard to the floor and began slapping and punching her.

Dear Mr. Jesus please tell me what to do

And please don't tell my Daddy that my Mommy hits me too

"Don't you fucking raise your voice at me! EVER!" Her grandmother yelled, punching her granddaughter until she was black and blue all over.

After the beating, Sally's grandmother walked away.

Sally weakly looked up and saw her grandmother turn the corner. She looked at Sally with pure anger still boiling inside. "I fucking meaning it." She hissed before walking away.

Please don't let them hurt your children

We need love and shelter from the storm

Please don't let them hurt your children

Won't you keep us safe and warm

Sally weakly got up and limped back to her room, locking the door.

She laid on her bed and began to cry.

As tears fell from her eyes, she looked up to the ceiling and asked one question: "God, why do you let her hurt me?"

Please don't let them hurt your children

We need love and shelter from the storm

Please don't let them hurt your children

Won't you keep us safe and warm?

This is based on my granmother and what she did to me when I was a child. I cried writing this story. I asked God the same question whenever I got beaten by my grandmother...and I tried telling my mom and she never listened. I hate child abuse and I always will.
