"Kyouya-senpai? Can I borrow your phone? Hikaru and Kaoru are holding mine hostage…"
Kyouya looked up from his book. Ah, it was Haruhi. Of course, who else would sound so apathetic yet irritated about their phone being temporarily stolen?
"Sure, Haruhi." he replied, setting his book down on his leg before fishing out his cellphone from his pocket. He handed it to Haruhi, who took it with a sigh.
"Thank you, Kyouya-senpai."
She turned to walk away, flipping open his phone as she walked, and ended up near her hosting table by the time she had gotten a hold of whoever she was calling. Naturally, Kyouya kept a close eye on her, blatantly ignoring the twins on the other side of the room pouting about how Haruhi was no fun and Tamaki curled up in his own corner growing mushrooms. Mori and Hunny had 3rd-year things to do, and wouldn't return until club began.
Haruhi fascinated Kyouya; he couldn't put it into words. It was something that was too astounding to be simply described by a language, and any formation of words wouldn't amount to the importance Haruhi had to him. He summed it up as adoration, just to make everything convenient.
That's right…he adored her. He rejected the idea of loving her, but he couldn't ignore the desire he felt for her. So adoring her was the best thing he felt he could do without jeopardizing relations within the club.
Haruhi returned with his phone, sighing yet again. "Thank you again." she said simply. There was no point in going into detail.
"You're welcome." Kyouya replied, taking his phone and putting into his blazer pocket this time. "May I ask who you so urgently needed to call?" He was generally curious, and he wanted to keep Haruhi standing next to him for a while longer.
Haruhi blinked at him, and, yet again, sighed. "My father. I had to let him know that he might not be able to get a hold of me tonight due to those two over there." she explained, jutting out her thumb towards the now-snickering twins.
"Ah, I see. Very responsible of you."
"Yeah. Well, thanks again, Kyouya-senpai. I have to go study before club starts."
They bid their farewells and Kyouya was left alone to read once again.
It was during little moments like those where he adored her most, having civil conversation about things that were relevant to what was currently happening. They were comfortable around each other, and understood each other easily enough, making the times they spent together calm and peaceful, a nice change from the loud host club.
There were many ways Kyouya could describe what he felt towards Haruhi, but again, it had to be summed up as simple adoration.
