I'm Here for You
Summary: When Don breaks up with Sally, who is there to console her?
Warning/Disclaimer: No warnings! I own absolutely nothing except the plot line.
Tommy had just gotten home from school and threw his back pack to the other side of the living room with a relief sigh and plopped down on the couch. He had no home work tonight and was looking forward to watching some television. He had just turned on the object mentioned with the remote when Sally came in from the kitchen. She looked like a train wreck, her hair was all messed up and her face was pale. Worry etched itself over his features, "Sally, what's wrong?"
Sally held her stomach as if in pain and sniffed as she sat next to him on the couch. He could see that she was trying desperately to not cry. He sometimes wished that she didn't always have to play the tough soldier all the time. He wasn't Dick and he didn't and wouldn't think any less of her if she let herself go once in awhile. One of the things he had learned in the past five years that they had been on this planet is that women do cry every now and then. They simply can not help it.
"Oh, Tommy it's awful!" she finally sobbed, burying her face in her hands.
Tommy's eyes filled with concern as he wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulders. He then pulled her closer as she laid the side of her head on his shoulder, "tell the old man what has my favorite colleague so upset."
Sally sniffed again, "Don broke up with me."
Tommy felt anger rise, but he pushed it aside. He didn't want to say anything that might make the situation worse, "I'm sorry, but you know what? It's his loss. Anyone willing to break up with you isn't worthy of your affections."
Sally shook her head as tears started to stream down her cheeks, "he was the one Tommy. I just know it!"
Tommy patted her arm with the one wrapped around her shoulders. He wasn't sure what else he could do to console her, "It'll be okay, Sally. As they say, "there are plenty of other fish in the sea".
"Yeah, but none like Don!" she cried lifting her head from his shoulder and wiped away some of her tears with the back of her hand.
Tommy sighed sadly and gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze, then held his arms out to her, "let it out, Sally. I'm here for you."
Sally eyed him with suspicion, but nodded and threw her arms around him and sobbed hysterically into his shoulder.
Tommy hugged her back tightly and soothed her hair, then patted her on the back. He hated to see her like this, but knew that she had to let it out or it'll eat her up inside, "that's it Sally, let it all out, Tommy's got you!" 'I am going to kill Don. Well, maybe not kill him, but I'd gladly turn him into a monkey.'
