A part of me didn't want Bella out of the bed, out of the house or out of my sight. But I knew that I had to share, she was a mother after all.
Bella sighed. Then suddenly her body went rigid and I knew she was thinking about the many changes Renesmee goes through every day.
"It's all right, love. Get dressed, and we'll be back to the house in two seconds."
Bella sprung from the bed and I must say, her naked body called to me like drug. She looked at me, then towards the opposite direction, then back at me, then back again. Her head was thrashing back and forward, back and forward and forward and back. I smiled.
"It's all about balance, love. You're so good at all of this, I don't imagine it will take too long to put everything in perspective."
"And we have all night, right?
My smiled widen. "Do you think I could bear to let you get dressed now if that weren't the case?"
Bella's body language changed and before I could continue to admire her beautiful body, she turned towards the clothes. Without hesitation she flung opened doors and was suddenly stopped in her tracks by the mere sight of the huge clothes. I had told Alice, Bella wasn't really going to be playing dress up but as always no one fights with Alice.
"Which ones are mine?" Bella hissed.
I shook my head as I stood next to her.
"To the best of my knowledge, everything but this rack here-" I said, touching the left half of a bar- "is yours."
"All of this?"
"Alice," we said together. Alice being obsessed with fashion was definitely an understatement.
"Fine," Bella muttered as she began unzipping garment bags of clothes. Bella growled when a baby pink, full length silk grown was inside one of the bags.
"Let me help," I offered. I sniffed the air, taking in the many scents of cotton, polyester, silk and finally denim. I followed the scent to a built-in dresser in the back of the closet. I pulled out a pair of faded jeans, holding them out for her with a smile on my face.
"How did you do that?" Bella darted to my side.
"Denim has its own scent just like anything else. Now…stretch cotton?"
I sniffed the air again, heading towards a half-rack and pulled out a long sleeved white t-shirt. I tossed it to her.
"Thanks," Bella said eagerly.
As she dressed, Bella inhaled the scent of her shirt and her jeans. I quickly dressed in a pair of khakis and a pullover. I turned back and took Bella's hand in mine leading her towards the main house. Once over the stone, Bella freed her hand from mine and began sprinting through the woods. This time around, I made it first to the house first.
Renesmee played with a pile of Esme's silverware as Emmett and Rosalie hovered over her. Alice, Jasper, Esme, and Carlisle were sitting on the couch, admiring the remarkable creature that was my daughter. It had been a long time since this family had felt at ease and such peace. Once Renesmee spotted Bella, she laughed and threw the mangled spoon she had in her hand and pointed in Bella's direction.
Bella darted across room and scooped Renesmee up her in her arms. They smiled at one another.
We thought you guys would never resurface. Emmett said.
I rolled my eyes at the comment when unexpectedly Renesmee showed Bella that she was hungry.
"How long has she been up?" I heard Bella ask.
I wondered into the kitchen and proceeded to fill Renesmee's sippy cup with bagged blood.
"Just a few minutes," Rosalie said. "We would have called you soon. She's been asking for you-demanding might be better description. Esme sacrificed her second-best silverware to the keep the little monster entertained."
For her, I would have given her anything. Esme said.
"We didn't want to…er, bother you." Seeing as it was a first time for everything. Rosalie said, looking away. She fought back a laugh.
I'm surprise Edward allowed her out of the house, fully dressed. Emmett laughed under his breath.
"We'll get your room set up right away," Bella said to Renesmee. "You'll love the cottage. It's magic. Thank you, Esme. So much. It's absolutely perfect."
Oh my dear, anything for you. Esme smiled.
"So it's still standing?" Emmett beamed. "I would've thought you two had knocked it to rubble by now. What were you doing last night? Discussing the national debt?" You must know have not known what she liked or wanted, Edward. Emmett howled with laughter.
He's going to piss her off this time around. Jasper said, shaking his head.
"Where're the wolves today?" Bella asked.
"Jacob took off this morning pretty early." Rosalie said. "Seth followed him out." Seth didn't look too happy to be leaving and Jacob looked concerned about something.
"What was he so upset about?" I asked as I gave Rosalie the baby's cup.
"I don't know- or care," Rosalie said, taking the baby from Bella. "He was watching Nessie sleep, his mouth hanging open like the moron he is, and then he jumped to his feet without any kind of trigger-that I noticed, anyways- and stormed out. I was glad to be rid of him. The more time he spends here, the less chance there is that we'll ever get the smell out." It's all over the house. My hair and my clothes. It's going to take years to get the smell out!
"Rose," Esme said, raising an eyebrow.
"I suppose it doesn't matter," Rosalie said, flipping her hair. "We won't be here that much longer."
We should figure something out sooner rather than later. Carlisle said.
"I still say we should go straight to New Hampshire and get things set up," Emmett said, looking at me. "Bella's already registered at Dartmouth. Doesn't look like it will take her all that long to be able to handle school." He turned towards Bella, "I'm sure you'll ace your classed," He teased with a grin. "Apparently there's nothing interesting for you to do at night besides study."
She's be studying Edward all night. Rosalie giggled.
He's asking for it. Jasper said, shaking his head.
Edward? I heard Jacob call out to me. Charlie knows everything.
I growled in Jacob's direction, my hands balled up into fists as I began losing control over my self-control.
"What is he doing? What is that dog doing that has erased my schedule for the entire day? I can't see anything! No!" Alice said, taking in Bella's appearance. "Look at you! You need me to show you how to use your closet."
"He talked to Charlie. He thinks Charlie is following after him. Coming here. Today." I snarled.
Oh my god! Can this day get any worse! Alice said as she darted out the back door.
"He told Charlie?" Bella gasped. "But- doesn't he understand? How could he do that? No!"
"Jacob's on his way in now," I said through gritted teeth.
Jacob strolled in with an ego so high and mighty; it was hard to believe that he was still 16 years old. He smiled with confidences. He wore the same look when he thought showing Charlie the motorbikes would keep Bella from me.
"Hey, guys," Jacob grinned, with Seth and Leah not far behind him.
Silence followed. The tension was weight heavy in the air as we all stared at Jacob.
"Rose," Bella said, holding out her arms. Without a word, Rosalie handed Renesmee to her.
As Bella light pressed Renesmee into her chest, she watched and listened to everything going on around her.
"Charlie'll be here soon," Jacob said to Bella. "Just a heads-up. I assume Alice is getting you sunglasses or something?"
"You assume way too much," Bella spitted out through clenched teeth. "What. Have. You. Done?"
Jacob's smile slightly faded but it showed me that he wasn't taking anything seriously. "Blondie and Emmett woke me up this morning going on and on about you all moving cross-country. Like I could let you leave. Charlie was the biggest issue there, right? Well, problem solved."
"Do you even realize what you've done? The danger you've put him in?"
Danger? Renesmee repeated the word. She looked around taking in everyone's expression to Bella's words.
"I didn't put him in danger," Jacob snorted. "Expect from you. But you've got some kind of supernatural self-control, right? Not as good as mind reading, if you ask me. Much less exciting." Now everything can kinda go back to normal. You guys can still live here, I can be with Renesmee and everyone can have the best of both worlds.
I just about had it with Jacob's mentality of knowing what was best for my daughter and my family. I could with stand a lot of his immature nature but this was crossing a personal boundary. I crossed the room and got into Jacob's face-but us nose to nose- with the thought of ripping his throat out. He leaned away from me, hopefully taking how seriously this situation of his was to us.
"That's just a theory, mongrel," I snarled. "You think we should test it out on Charlie? Did you consider the physical pain you're putting Bella through, even if she can resist? Or the emotional pain is she doesn't? I suppose what happened to Bella no longer concerns you! I spit in his face.
Renesmee pressed her fingers to Bella's face and displayed the color red. A color she associated with pain.
"Bella will be in pain?" Jacob said, frowning. How bad in pain are we talking about?
"Like you've shoved a white-hot branding iron down her throat!"
"I didn't know that," Jacob whispered. I didn't know that. He repeated.
"Then perhaps you should have asked first," I growled in his face.
"You would have stopped me." I did this for her. Nessie!
"You should have been stopped-"
"This isn't about me," Bella interrupted. "This is about Charlie, Jacob. How could you put him in danger this way? Do you realize it's death or vampire life for him now, too?" Bella voice cracked.
"Relax, Bella. I didn't tell him anything you weren't planning to tell him." He said towards Bella.
"But here's coming here!" Bella yelled.
"Yeah, that's the idea. Wasn't the whole 'let him make the wrong assumptions' thing your plan? I think I provided a very nice red herring, if I do say so myself."
"Say it straight, Jacob," Bella said flexing her finger away from Renesmee before curling them back. "I don't have the patience for this."
She's at the edge, Edward. You need to stop him quick. Jasper anxiously said.
"I didn't tell him anything about you, Bella. Not really. I told him about me. Well, show is probably a better verb." At first he thought I was being a weirdo but when he saw it. I think he connected two and two.
"He phased in front of Charlie," I hissed.
"You what?" Bella whispered.
"He's brave. Brave as you are. Didn't pass out or throw up or anything. I gotta say, I was impressed. You should've seen his face when I started taking my clothes off, though. Priceless." Jacob snickered. It was like a Kodak moment. IF only I had a camera.
I knew this was a stupid idea Lead hissed.
"You absolute moron! You could have given him a heart attack!"
"Charlie's fine. He's tough. If you'd give this just a minute, you'll see that I did you a favor here." I did what no one would do!
"You have half of that Jacob," Bella said sturdy. "You have thirty seconds to tell me every single word before I give Renesmee to Rosalie and rip your miserable head off. Seth won't be able to stop me this time."
Renesmee displayed the color blue in her thought at the thought of Jacob being hurt, sadden her.
"Jeez, Bells. You didn't used to be so melodramatic." I knew Edward can be but you? "Is that a vampire thing?"
Twenty-sex seconds. Jacob mocked Bella as he rolled his eyes. He collapsed into the nearest chair, while Seth and Leah stood next to him on either side. Leah measuring Bella, slightly baring her teeth Seth looked a little worried but his thought showed it was for Renesmee being hurt in all this confrontation.
"So, I knocked on Charlie's door this morning and asked him to come for a walk with me. He was confused, but when I told him it was about you and that you were back in town, he followed me out to the woods. I told him you weren't sick anymore, and that things were a little weird, but good. He was about to take off to see you, but I told him I had to show him something first. And then I phased." Jacob shrugged.
And just like that, all the hard work of keeping secrets is wasted, for nothing. Rosalie growled.
"I want every word, you monster." Bella snarled.
Monster? Renesmee tested the word.
"Well, you said I only had thirty seconds-okay, okay." Jacob said, taking into account Bella's hostile expression. "Lemme see…I phased back and got dressed, and then after he started breathing again. I said something like, "Charlie, you don't live in the world you thought you lived in. The good news is, nothing has changed-expect that now you know. Life'll go on the same way it always has. You can go right back to pretending that you don't believe any of this.'
"It took him a minute to get his head together, and then he wanted to know what was really going on with you, with the whole rare-disease thing. I told him that you had been sick, but you were fine now-it was just that you'd had to change a little bit in the process of getting better. He wanted to know what I meant by 'change', and I told him that you looked a lot more like Esme now than you looked like Renée."
I hissed at Jacob. This kid was pretending to be a man, but was just being a selfish little boy wanting something he can't have and I was starting to lose all respect for him.
"After a few minutes, he asked, real quickly, if you turned into an animal, too. And I said, 'She wishes she was that cool!'" Jacob laughed.
The nerve of him! Rosalie said, disgusted.
"I started to tell him more about werewolves, but I didn't even get the whole word out- Charlie cut me off and said he'd 'rather not know the specifies.' Then he asked if you'd known what you were getting yourself into when you married Edward, and I said, 'Sure, she's known all about this for years, since she first came to Forks' He didn't like that very much." He seemed more pissed that you kept everything from him, Edward. He said. "I let him rant till he got it out of his system. After he got calmed down, he just wanted two things. He wanted to see you, and I said it would be better if he gave me a hand start to explain."
Bella inhaled deeply. "What was the other things he wanted?"
This should be interseting. Emmett said.
"You'll like this." Jacob smiled. "His main request is that he be told as little as possible about all of this. If it's not absolutely essential for him to know something, then keep it to yourself. Need to know, only." I mean the man is brave when it comes to face to face things but anything else, he's a big baby.
"I can handle that part." Bella said, relaxing a bit.
"Other than that, he'd just like to pretend things are normal." Jacob said, with a smug look on his face.
"What did you tell him about Renesmee?" Bella said with a little hostile in her voice.
"Oh yeah. So I told him that you and Edward had inherited a new little mouth to feed." I mean because all of this was to have you guys stay here. Jacob said, glancing my way. "She's your orphaned ward-like Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson." Jacob snorted. "I didn't think you'd mind me lying. That's all part of the game, right?" Right? He asked me.
I didn't respond to him or show him any kind of facial expression. I was still waiting to see where he was going with all this is.
"Charlie was way past being shocked at this point, but he did ask if you were adopting her. 'Like a daughter? Like I'm sort of a grandfather?' were his exact words. I told him yes. 'Congrats, Gramps,' and all that. He even smiled a little."
"But she's changing so fast," Bella whispered.
"I told him that she was more special than all of us put together," Jacob said in a soft voice. He walked over towards Bella and Renesmee, waving away Leah and Seth away.
Jackass. Leah growled.
Renesmee looked at Jacob with sadness in her eyes, as she tried reaching for him but Bella held a firm grip on her.
"I told him, 'Trust me, you don't need to know about this. But if you can ignore all the strange parts, you're going to be amazed. She's the most wonderful person in the whole world.' And then I told him that if he could deal with that, you all would stick around for a while and he could have a chance to get to know her. But that if it was too much for him, you would leave. He said as long as no one forced too much information on him, he'd deal." C'mon, Bells. Jacob said with a half-smile on his face, waiting for Bella to say something.
I should of bet Jasper money on this fight Emmett beamed.
I turned and stared him down. He held his hand up, shaking his head, while smiling.
I was just thinking.
"I'm not going to say thank you," Bella told him. "You're still putting Charlie at a huge risk."
"I am sorry about it hurting you. I didn't know it was like that." I swear! "Bella, things are different with us now, but you'll always be my best friend, and I'll always love you. But I'll love you the right way now. There's finally a balance. We both have people we can't live without." Like you. He said, staring into Renesmee eyes. "Still friends?" Jacob smiled.
Bella smiled back. He held out his hand as a peace offering. Bella took a deep breath and shifted Renesmee to offer Jacob her left hand.
See, Bells, we can all play nice here. Jacob said.
"If I don't kill Charlie tonight, I'll consider forgiving you for this."
"When you don't kill Charlie tonight, you'll owe me huge." Slam drum for the werewolf!
Bella rolled her eyes.
"Can I?" He asked, holding out his hand towards the baby.
"I'm actually holding her so that my hands aren't free to kill you, Jacob. Maybe later."
It never seems like enough, sometimes. Jacob sighed.
So selfish, of him! Oh, no one never thinking about how all this will affect Alice. The nerve of some werewolves. "You, you, and you," Alice snapped, glaring at the wolves. "If you must stay, get over in the corner and commit to being there for a while."
Since when did I start talking orders from bloodsuckers! Leah snapped.
"I need to see. Bella, you'd better give him the baby, too. You'll need your arms free, anyways."
Sweet! Jacob grinned.
Bella's breathing suddenly turned to gasps.
"Take her," Bella whispered, handing the baby over to Jacob.
Bella, it's all going to work out. Jacob said, taking the baby. He and Seth moved to the far end of the room, in the corner Alice told them to sit at. The stooped down on the floor but Leah refused to do anything.
"Am I allowed to leave?" she grumbled.
"Of course," Jake said.
"Stay east so you don't cross Charlie's path," Alice said.
Once again, when the hell did I start talking order from bloodsuckers! Leah said, as she ducked out the back door and stomped into the brushes.
"You can do this," I said, stroking Bella's face. "I know you can. I'll help you; we all will."
Bella's eyes met mine. She was horrified about the whole ordeal.
"If I didn't believe you could handle it, we'd disappear today. This very minute. But you can. And you'll be happier if you can have Charlie in your life."
Bella tired slowing her breathing.
She's losing it. Jasper said.
"These will irritate your eyes," Alice said, handing her a boxes of contacts. "They won't hurt, but they'll cloud your vision. It's annoying. The also won't match your old color, but it's still better than bright red, right?"
Alice tossed her the box, which Bella caught.
"When did you-"
"Before you left on the honeymoon. I was prepared for several possible futures." But this with Jacob and his crap, I'm lucky I got around to my 'to do list'.
Bella nodded and opened the container. She examined the quarter-sphere before sliding one into her eye. She blinked several times.
"I see what you mean," Bella murmured, sticking the other one in her eye.
"How do I look?"
"Gorgeous." I said, smiling at her. "Of course-"
I don't have time for this, Edward. "Yes, yes, she always gorgeous," Alice said, impatiently. "It's better than red, but that's the highest commendation I can give. Muddy brown. Your brown was much prettier. Keep in mind that those won't last forever-the venom in your eyes will dissolve the in a few hours. So if Charlie stays longer than that, you'll have to excuse yourself to replace them. Which is a good idea anyway, because humans need bathroom breaks." Among other things. Alice said, shaking her head. "Esme, give her a few pointers on acting human while I stock the powder room with contacts."
"How long do I have?"
"Charlie will be here in five minutes. Keep it simple."
Esme nodded and took Bella's hand. "The main thing is not to sit too still or move too fast," She said.
"Sit down if he does," Emmett interjected. "Humans don't like to just stand there."
"Let your eyes wander every thirty seconds or so," Jasper added. "Humans don't stare at one thing for too long."
"Cross your legs for about five minutes, then switch to crossing your ankles for the next five," Rosalie said.
Bella nodded at everyone's suggestions.
"And blink at least three times a minute," Emmett said. He darted for the remote, turn the TV on and flipped to the college football game. Like this, Bella. Emmett nodded.
"Move your hands, too. Brush your hair back or pretend to scratch something," Jasper said.
"I said Esme," Alice complained, descending from the stair well. "You'll overwhelm her." I swear, nothing goes right unless I'm around to point everyone in the right direction.
"No, I think I got it all," Bella said. "Sit, look around, blink, fidget."
"Right," Esme agreed, hugging her shoulder. I know you'll do great.
"You'll be holding your breath as much as possible," Jasper frowned. "But you need to move your shoulder a little to make it look like you're breathing."
Bella inhaled, nodding her head.
"You can do this," I said hugging her on the other side.
"Two minutes," Alice said. "Maybe you should start out already on the couch." Alice pulled Bella to the sofa. "You've been sick, after all. That way he won't have to see you move right at first."
Alice roller her eyes, and shook her head as Bella tried to be clumsy with her limbs.
"Jacob, I need Renesmee," Bella said.
I'm not so sure about that right now. Jacob said, unmoving.
She's needs what? Alice shook her head. "Bella, that doesn't help me see."
"But I need her. She keeps me calm," Bella said with slight hint of anxiety laced in her voice.
You're got to be joking! "Fine," Alice groaned. "Hold her as still as you can and I'll try to see around her." Someone always needs something. Alice sighed tiredly.
If you must, Bella. Jacob sighed, too, but bought Renesmee to Bella. He quickly retreated back and out of Alice's view.
I took my seat next to Bella and the baby, putting my arms around the both of them. I leaned forwards and looked the baby in the eyes. I looked at her very seriously.
"Renesmee, someone special is coming to see you and your mother," I said in stern voice. "But he's not like us, or even like Jacob. We have to be very careful with him. You shouldn't tell him things the way you tell us."
Renesmee placed her hand on my face, displaying our daily behavior. Rosalie feeding her blood, her hearing Carlisle and Esme talk all night without sleeping, and Carlisle measuring her daily and taking note of it.
"Exactly," I said. "And he going's to make you thirsty. But you mustn't bite him. He won't heal like Jacob."
"Can she understand you?" Bella whispered.
"She understands. You'll be careful, won't you, Renesmee? You'll help us?"
Renesmee touched my face again. She showed herself biting Jacob.
"No, I don't care if you bite Jacob. That's fine."
She's so cute when she does it. Jacob chuckled.
"Maybe you should leave, Jacob." I said, cruelly, glaring at him.
"I told Charlie I'd be here," Jacob said. "He needs the mortal support."
"Moral support," I scoffed. "As far as Charlie knows, you're the most repulsive monster of us all."
"Repulsive?" Jake objected. I'm not the one who needs to drink blood to keep myself going. Jacob laughed to himself.
"Well done, Bella." Jasper suddenly whispered, supported.
I tightened my arm over her shoulders, waiting for Charlie's car to come to a stop.
"You're sure?" Bella asked.
"Positive. You can do anything." I smiled and kissed her.
Once again, I suddenly heard. "Er, Edward, you might not want to distract her like that right now," Jasper said. "She needs to be able to focus." You know for a lot longer than a few minutes.
I pulled away. "Oops," I said.
"Later," she said.
"Focus, Bella," Japer urged.
"Bella." Jasper sternly said.
I remember feeling that burning sensation. Emmett laughed.
As Charlie continued up the drive away, the family got themselves together. Emmett and Jasper focused on the game, Alice and Rosalie playing on the computer and Esme and Carlisle in the kitchen.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
C'mon, c'mon. I know she's in there. Charlie thought, nervously shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
"Hello, Charlie," Carlisle said, humbled.
Renesmee nestled deeper in her arms, hiding her face in Bella's hair as she heard Charlie.
"Carlisle," Charlie greeted him rigidly. "Where's Bella?"
"Right here, Dad."
Bella? Charlie said, staring at Bella. He looked shocked, and then disbelief, then pain, loss fear and anger painted his face. "Is that you, Bella?" Charlie whispered. Suspicion and more pace laced his face.
"Yep" Bella responded. "Hi, Dad."
Oh my god! Charlie said taking in a deep breath and steadying himself.
"Hey, Charlie," Jacob said to him from the corner. "How're things?"
Charlie stared at Jacob as the memory of Jacob growing fur and standing on four legs, made him shudder. That's a memory I would like to burn.
He turned his attention back to Bella. As Charlie slowly walked his way towards Bella, he shot a heated look at me before turning his attention back to Bella.
"Bella?" Charlie asked again.
"It's really me." Bella said in a lower tone.
What's going on here?! Charlie said, as his jaw locked.
"I'm sorry, Dad," Bella said.
"Are you okay?" He demanded.
"Really and truly great," Bella promised. "Healthy as a horse."
"Jake told me this was…necessary. That you were dying." He said in disbelief. But here you are and not a single person is giving me a damn answer.
Bella leaned into me and took a deep breath.
Edward, her mood is shifting. She's losing focus. Jasper hissed.
I gave Bella a sympathetically hug, encouraging her to be strong. She was doing so well and to be able to hold out this long was amazing.
I'm sorry Bella. Jacob said, giving Bella an apologetic glance.
"Jacob was telling you the truth."
"That makes one of you," Charlie growled.
Renesmee shifted in Bella's arms, as Charlie's scent swirled around her.
"Oh," Charlie said, taken by surprise. Look at eyes and cheeks. "This is her. The orphan Jacob said you're adopting."
"My niece," I said
"I thought you'd lost your family," Charlie implied.
"I lost my parents. My older brother was adopted, like me. I never saw him after that. But the courts located me when he and his wife died in a car accident, leaving their only child without any other family."
Renesmee peeked this time at Charlie, taking in another sniff. She displayed thirst and hunger in her mind. She shyly glanced at Charlie then hid back under Bella's hair.
"She's…she's, well, she's a beauty." She's beyond beautiful.
"Yes," I agreed.
"Kind of a big responsibility, thought. You two are just getting started." And it's just too much for such a young couple.
"What else could we do?" I said, brushing my finger again Nessie's cheek. I placed my finger over her lip, as I reminded her that Charlie was off limits. "Would you have refused her?"
"Hmph. Well." It's still too early to be jumping into parenthood. "Jake says you call her Nessie?'
"No, we don't," Bella said sharply. "Her name is Renesmee."
"How do you feel about this?" Charlie said, focusing back on Bella. "Maybe Carlisle and Esme could-"
"She's mine," Bella interrupted. "I want her."
"You gonna make me a grandpa so young?" Charlie said with a frown.
"Carlisle is a grandfather, too." I smiled.
Well, the man is younger than me. Charlie said, glancing over at Carlisle.
Charlie snorted and then laughed. "I guess that does sort of make me feel better." He eyes drifted back to my daughter. "She sure is something to look at.
As Charlie's warm breath blew across the space between them, Renesmee leaned into smell. No longer hidden under Bella's hair, Renesmee was in full view for Charlie to get a better look at. She stared into his eyes, Charlie gasped.
Look at her. Look….at her eyes. Bella had the same eyes when she was little. She looks so much like Bella when she was a baby. Oh. My. God.
Charlie began hyperventilating, his lips trembling as his started to mouth number.
She got married in August. Wait, wait, wait…this is not making any sense!
Jacob got up and came over to Charlie, placing a pat on his back. He leaned and whispered. "Need to know, Charlie. It's okay. I promise."
Charlie nervously swallowed and nodded. His mood shifted, his eyes blazing into me as his hand tighten into fists.
"I don't want to know everything, but I'm done with the lies!" I'm done with you, Edward and all your crap.
"I'm sorry," I said calmly, "but you need to know the public story more than you need to know the truth. If you're going to be part of this secret, the public story is the one that counts. It's to protect Bella and Renesmee as well as the rest of us. Can you go along with the lies for them?"
This is getting good. Emmett said.
My baby having a baby. Charlie huffed. "You might've given me some warning, kid?" Charlie said, looking back at Bella.
"Would it really have made this any easier?"
Bells, the moment you started doing this on your own, nothing has come easy to me. Charlie said with a frown.
He knelt on the floor, into front of Bella and Renesmee. She smiled and reached towards him. As Bella tighten her grip, Renesmee placed her other hand on Bella's neck. She was displayed curiosity, thirst and Charlie's face in her thought. She acknowledged the thirst was more curious as to who Charlie was and was anxious to get to know him.
"Whoa," Charlie gasped, his eyes focusing on her teeth "How old is she?"
"Three months," I said and then added, "rather, she's the size of a three-month-old, more or less." I said slowly. "She's younger in some ways, more mature in others."
Renesmee deliberately waved at Charlie.
Wow! Charlie said, shocked.
"Told you she was special," Jacob said, elbowing him. "Didn't I?"
Yea, I got it. Charlie said, cringing away.
"Oh, c'mon, Charlie," Jacob groaned. "I'm the same person I've always been. Just pretend this afternoon didn't happen."
Unlikely. Charlie said, rethinking of Jacob as a huge wolf, causing his lips to go white. Don't think about it, don't think about it. Charlie repeated then nods. "Just what is your part in all this, Jake?" He asked. "How much does Billy know? Why are you here?"
A question we all ask ourselves too. Rosalie said.
"Well, I could tell you all about it- Billy knows absolutely everything- but it involves a lot of stuff about werewo-"
"Ungh!" Charlie argued, covering his ears. "Never mind."
"Everything's going to be great, Charlie." Jacob smiled. "Just try to no believe anything you see."
Hpmh. When pigs start flying out of my butt.
"Woo!" Emmett suddenly shouted. "Go Gators!"
Jacob and Charlie jumped as the rest of my family froze.
"Florida winning?" Charlie said over his shoulder at Emmett.
"Just scored the first touchdown," Emmett supposed. "Bout time somebody scored around here." He said, wagging his eyebrows at Bella.
Rosalie smiled, as Jasper and Alice shook their heads at Emmett's idiotic behavior.
Charlie staggered to his feet, taking a deep breath, stepped around Jacob and half-sat in an open chair. Well," he sighed, "I guess we should see if they can hold on to the lead." But I doubt at this point anything will make senses.
