One of the Boys

Epilogue

It was the beginning of the World's Martial Arts Tournament. I had gotten to know Gohan's family and friends quite well over the last few months. We were officially done with high school and Gohan was gearing up and getting ready for law school.

Everyone still thought I was with the Great Saiyaman. I wanted to tell everyone the truth, but Gohan insisted on waiting as long as we could. After each of us had signed up and entered the tournament we were sitting in the lobby watching a guy that I had known my entire life begin the announcements.

"Is everybody ready for the World's Martial Arts Tournament!" He shouted out. The crowd roared and the stadium rumbled. I looked excitedly up at Gohan who had a make shift turban and some sunglasses instead of his usual Saiyaman helmet. "Alrighty then! All we have to do is bring the roster out and start the first match of the tournament."

Gohan looked clammy and uncomfortable. I looked up at him. "Gohan are you okay? You look nervous."

He seemed distant and distracted. "I kind of am." He admitted. I could almost see his pulse in his neck.

"Hey you're like the strongest guy here – well minus your dad, but still. You don't have anything to worry about." I consoled him interlocking my fingers with his.

He nodded quickly. "Yeah. Yeah I know."

I opened my mouth but was cut off by the gong ringing. I looked back to the anouncer.

"Okay it is time to see our first match. Whoa what's this!" I looked harder at the roster. "A fight against the Great Saiyaman and Miss Viiiiideeell Saaaatttaaaannn!"

"What?!" I exclaimed. I looked over at Gohan, but he was already making his way out onto the platform.

"Watch out folks!" The announcer joked. "This is about to get messy in the stadium and messy back at home. Let the first match begin."

I shook my head climbing the stadium platform facing across from Gohan. His face seemed extremely expressionless. We were six feet away from each other. I froze. I didn't know what to do. I knew I couldn't win. Gohan began walking my way. As he came towards me he undid his turban, took his glasses off, crunched them in his hand and closed the gap between us.

I heard people gasp, but I didn't care. I was trying to understand what he was doing. "Gohan..." I started.

"Shhhhh..." The stadium grew completely still. It almost felt empty. He chuckled putt his arms around my waist. "You're my little pistol Videl Satan. You're always shouting. You're always ready to pick a fight and you always keep me on my toes. And I love that about you. I love your willingness to push yourself harder and harder to be the best you that you can be, and that's what you are Videl. You're the girl for me." His face was close to mine and I smiled. "That's why I've been working so hard to give you what you deserve Videl." His hands slid down my body as he knelt down on one knee. He pulled a small blue velvet box out of his pocket opening it.

I put my hands to my mouth. "My mother's ring." I murmured.

"Videl, will you marry me?" I looked at him. He was staring at me confidently, but I knew him well enough to know that he was so nervous.

I nodded. "Yes. Yes I'll marry you."

In a moment the crowd was cheering and I was being spun around in Gohan's arms. He was kissing me endlessly. I finally broke away and started walking off the stadium and into the grass. "Go get 'em Gohan." I smiled.

The crowd was still cheering as the announcer shouted, "Round one goes to Gohan Son!"

As he descended the stadium steps he picked me up again and kissed me. "I love you Videl Satan. And I always will."

I kissed him again. "I love you too Gohan Son."

My whole life I had always been one of the boys. Now I got to see what it felt like to be one of the girls... to be Gohan's girl.

The End.
