When I was five I used to dream of a fairy tale life. You know, beautiful kingdoms, handsome princes, all that. I would plan my dream wedding with prince charming; picture him looking at me with true love in his eyes.

Then my mom left.

I was seven then. My mom and dad had been fighting a lot. My dad was mad about her drinking and my mom thought he was being controlling. One night I guess she just got sick of it. She packed her stuff, called a cab, and she was gone. Not so much as a birthday card since then. My dad has never been the same.

After that I came to a conclusion; there is no such thing as true love.

I stopped believing in fairy tales, my prince charming wasn't really out there. I became the stubborn, independent woman I am today, at only ten years old.

Once I started dating I kept myself from getting in too deep. It was like a cycle, find a boy, date him to keep me entertained, dump him once he starts to like me too much, and find a new guy.

And that's the way I like it.

"Alice, Rose, I'll be back later. Don't wait up, okay?" Alice and Rosalie were my best friends through high school and now we all shared an apartment in Seattle.

"You got a date with Mike?" Rosalie asked.

"No, Mike and I are through."

"What happened?" Alice asked. "You guys have been going out for months, and now you're just…through?"

"He said the L word." I explained.

"Oh, Bella. What is so wrong about someone telling you that they love you? Just because you're afraid of real emotions…"

"Real, please Alice, love is not real. Besides I have to go, I'm going to be late."

"Fine, go out on your date, we'll talk later."

"See ya Bells" Rosalie called as I shut the door. Time to start the cycle all over again.

That's the 1st chapter. Is it good? Bad? Okay? Review!
