A/N: This is just a very short and sweet Doctor/Rose story.... I'm sorry about how short it is, but deal with it. I hope you like it and please review :)

"Rose?" The Doctor asked, suddenly, from his place beside her. He was messing around with his screwdriver, leaning against the wall of the kitchen as she poured herself a glass of water.

"Hmm?" She replied, raising the glass to her lips and taking a long drink.

Rose turned around to look at him, but he was still fumbling with the screwdriver. "What's your favorite color?" He asked.

She stopped drinking the water, surprised by the random question. "What?"

He shrugged. "Just... out of curiosity."

She paused, putting the cup down on the kitchen counter, and started to think about her answer. "I dunno..." She said, "I guess my favorite color is 'rainbow'."

The Doctor put his gadget into his pocket and looked at her, his eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. "What do you mean?"

She giggled. "I mean; Rainbow. As in, I like a lot of different colors, I can't choose one." He nodded, seeming to understand. "The first color of my rainbow would, of course, be blue. And I know that to everyone else, it's the color that's associated with sadness... But to me, it's the color of life; the color of the sky, of the birds.... Blue is beautiful."

He chuckled at the look in her eye as she said the word 'beautiful'. She stopped for a moment, before continuing, "And then, there's purple. I love purple because... well.... it's the color that she clouds turn just before the sun finishes setting... it's the color of my favorite pair of warm, fuzzy slippers that Mum got me for Christmas.... To me, purple is an extremely comforting color." Rose stopped and took a short drink from her cup, "I also like green. Because green is the color of Earth, you know? It's the color of grass and trees.... Green is sort of the color of life, don't you think?"

The Doctor nodded, putting both of his hands into his pockets. "Well, it's nice to have variety, I suppose."

"But what's your favorite color, Doctor?" Rose asked, brushing a strand of blond hair out of her face. "Or can you not choose either?"

He shook his head, "No, no, no, I can.... Hold on..." He leaned his head back a little, looking up at the ceiling. And then he brought his gaze back to hers. "Brown."

Rose paused, not sure that she had heard him right. "What did you say?" She asked, for, surely, the Doctor's favorite color must be something much more unique than brown.

"I said: Brown. Brrroooowwwwnnnn." He replied, saying the word very slowly the second time. There a short silence, while she waited for him to explain. When he didn't, she opened her mouth to voice her question.

"Why?" She asked, seriously not understanding why he favored such an ordinary color.

He shrugged, as though she should just know. "Because...." He trailed off, trying to think of a reason. He opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, about to speak, and then not saying anything. "Well, because..."

Rose raised her eyebrows, and folded her arms across her chest, waiting for an answer. He furrowed his brow, racking his brain for a good explanation.

"Brown is... well, it's-" He looked down at the floor, sheepishly, "Brown is the color of your eyes."

There a silence, that seemed to split the room down the middle, him on one side, her on the other, while she stumbled over what he had just said. Had he really just said that it was because of her eyes? She looked up at him and he nodded at her, as if to confirm her thoughts. She stared at him for a moment, and then she smiled. And he couldn't help but smile back at her.

A/N: If you love it: GREAT! If you hate it: that's okay too. Reviews are love.
