Closing Notes – "Good Morning, Angle":
Well that was dark.
This has to be one of my most favorite projects, but also one of the most uncomfortable ones. You can never quite tell how people are going to react to a bunch of kids being killed off one at a time. The biggest worry I had was making the story communicate that I wasn't a complete psychopath! Hopefully, I succeeded, but to those who still have their doubts, I can assure you that I've never once made a child step-out from an airlock.
Going into this, I knew it was gonna be kind of a large task to finish, but I didn't think I'd have enough material to even match my other ME fic's word count, but it appears I almost doubled it. Funny how things work out. But one of the reasons it did was because I started to just have fun with it. Almost every chapter, I tried to imbue some sort of geeky aura which made it oh so fun to write. Little things like Carth's "Down you go!" to Vyrnnus' first name being Mathran (anagram of Hartman, i.e. the drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket). If it all went well, then it picked up the mood substantially.
I also have to thank my lucky stars that I read Ender's Game at some point in my life. Saw that someone already caught the references. I took a lot of inspiration from that novel, just as I believe Karpyshyn did when he wrote the game. Kinda came full circle there, huh? In my mind it did anyway.
In the end, I learned a lot from this experience, and I hope that the dialogue gave you something to think about, because that was one of my main intentions—to make sure it had layers, not unlike ogres.
In thanks, I have to mainly thank my British counterpart, Mister Buch. Without his inspiration and awesome writing/critiques (and KOTOR geek-out sessions), I don't think I ever would have written this thing. Additionally, I don't think I'd be as excited about writing as I am now. My purpose has been renewed! Bolly! Go read his new fic if you haven't already. It just might do the same for you. =D
And, as always, thanks to everyone about to review, and those who did review during the writing process:
The Odd Little Turtle
R-I-C-A-R-D (Thanks for reviewing again! You rock, dude!)
Thanks again! Hopefully it won't be very long until I think up another one. If it doesn't come immediately, then I'll probably be seeing you all when Mass Effect 2 comes a knocking.
