Yeah, so I have no idea where this came from. It's not related to any episode (gasp), and is probably more than a little out-of-character. Imagine…and enjoy! :)

"Sorry I don't have much food. I'm not here most of the time so it just goes to waste."

"It's okay, Booth. I can miss a meal."

"Absolutely not!" Booth protested as he ushered her into his kitchen. "I said I didn't have much food, but I think we can make do with what's here." He walked to the pantry and removed one item, then moved to the refrigerator and retrieved another item.

Brennan leaned against the counter and crossed her arms over her chest as she watched him in amusement. "Peanut butter and jelly?"

"Yeah," Booth nodded enthusiastically. It's one of the few things Parker will eat, so I always have it on hand. The bread is behind you."

Booth put the jars on another counter and pulled two plates from the cabinet and two knives from the silverware drawer. Brennan handed him four pieces of bread, and he went about making the sandwiches. He put a sandwich on each plate and cut them diagonally. He handed her a plate, and they made their way to the couch in the living room.

They sat and rested their plates on their laps.

Brennan picked up half of her sandwich. "I don't even remember the last time I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

"Really?" Booth asked as he took a bite out of the middle of the diagonal side of the sandwich. The sticky mixture squirted out onto the corners of his mouth, and he snaked his tongue between his lips and licked it away.

"Why do people do that?" Brennan asked as she took a bite from one of the half-corners. "All that does is make a mess."

"That's part of the art of eating PB & J, Bones," he replied as he bit off another piece.

"It doesn't make any sense. There's no need to be messy when you eat."

Booth grinned and continued to eat, deliberately smearing the sandwich contents on his face. He finally finished the sandwich and licked away the stickiness again.

He stood up and walked past Brennan on his way back to the kitchen. "Want another one, Bones?" he called over his shoulder.

"No, I haven't finished this one!" she replied. "I was so busy watching you be a canvas for your food that I forgot to eat."

She munched on her sandwich while Booth made another one for himself.

On the way back to his seat, Booth passed Brennan again, and swiped a finger across her lips. "No sense in being messy while you eat, Bones," he teased.

Shocked by his unexpected touch, Brennan stared at him wide-eyed.

"You had PB & J on your lips." He showed her the evidence on his finger.

Still, Brennan said nothing.

"What?" he asked as he held her gaze. "Did you want me to lick yours off, too?"

Thanks for reading! I'll be glad when Thursday finally rolls around because my muse has been struggling and could use some (new) quality B & B on screen. Hopefully I'll be back Thursday or Friday with a new episode-based fic. Yikes, now I'm pimping stuff I haven't written yet…

Oh, by the way, David and Emily are on the cover of TV Guide this week (in the US), and there's a really great article inside. I put one of the pictures as my avatar on my profile page if you want to check it out.
