Disclaimer: I don't own The Perfect Storm or any of the characters.
Summary: Final thoughts and love filled tears.
Author's Note: This is just a quick one-shot about the movie The Perfect Storm. Really great movie and it gives you appreciation for the people who go out to sea.
Tears fell but they weren't noticeable. The wind and the storm slapped Bobby Shatford in the face causing his tears to become part of the ocean. No matter what he did and no matter how hard he tried, there was no way he was going to live. The storm was too strong and he was way too far out at sea.
"Christina?" Bobby called out. "Christina, can you hear me? I don't know if you can, but I'm talking to ya, baby. Do you know how much I love you? I loved you the moment I saw you. I love you now, and I'll love you forever. No goodbye. There's only love, Christina. Only love."
Bobby hoped that some how Christina would hear. Most people would think he was crazy but he was staring death in the face and he didn't care at that moment. His life flashed before his eyes and he wished he had listened to Christina when she said she had a bad feeling and told him not to go. Thinking about it wasn't going to help any though.
Eventually Bobby grew tired. The ocean pushed and pulled him from every direction. He had hoped that maybe someone would've found him but he knew it wasn't mean to be. With only thoughts of Christina on his mind, Bobby let the ocean pull him under where his final resting place would be.
Christina sat on the dock looking out at the water. She wanted to hate mother nature at that very moment but couldn't find it in her to do so.
"I'll be asleep, and all the sudden there he is, that big smile. You know that smile," Christina said, directing the statement at Ethel, Bobby's mother. "And I say, 'Hey, Bobby - where you been?' but he won't tell me. He just smiles and says, 'Remember, Christina: I'll always love you; I loved you the moment I saw you; I love you now; and I love you forever. There's no goodbyes - there's only love, Christina; only love. Then he's gone. But he's always happy when he goes so I know he's got to be okay - absolutely okay."
Tears escaped and ran down Christina's cheeks. It was hard talking about Bobby but in a way, it helped her heal knowing that he was happy.
"I love your dream," Ethel replied, shedding a few tears of her own.
The two sat together staring at the water wondering how they would move on.
Until then, they were both content watching the sunset and remembering the crew of the Andrea Gail.
