The snow flew across the forest, driven by the whistling winds. A lone figure stood watching, waiting, feeling her grace ebb ever away. All she had stayed for was gone, and so now she stood amongst where her people had once flourished, feeling the cold as any other mortal. Almost she regretted her decision, until memory of love pushed such dark thoughts aside. Ages she had spent in the company of her father and their people, secluded and safe, and she had found the courage to have hope where so many had failed. She had not sailed, she had persevered in her trust, in her love, had seen the man she loved grow to be strong, to be king, and to reign supreme with fair and just hand, bringing greatness to his line once more. The green lands of men flourished under him, and so they would remain while his line stayed true. A rich legacy he had left – foresight had not yet left her, and she felt no compulsion to stay to see her visions bear fruit, for she knew it would be so. Thus it was she made the next decision that would seem so alien to many, and laid herself down to die, to travel onward to be with her love once more.

She felt the life about her, in the green grass and bright blossoms, and the life within her flow to join it. There was no pain, no fear, no despair, as she closed her eyes and let her thoughts drift out of sight, out of mind. The forest grew quiet in reverence as the fairest being on earth passed away. Not over the sea, but through the walls of mortality like only two of her kind before had willingly gone. The ultimate courage she showed, and nature ever would worship her memory. All that is left is death? Perhaps, but memory of her decision would live ever on, until the ending of the world.

Energy sparkled, and the spirit of the Evenstar coalesced once more. The energy of her spirit rose from her body as a beacon to the heavens, and ever would witnesses speak of how a bright light shone through all eaves of the wood, endlessly refracted like the woods were transformed to crystal. Such it was that she departed this world, and the light faded, and all who saw it weeped without knowing, for they had in that moment been touched by infinite beauty and grace, and then felt it stolen away. But hope they felt also, for that was the essence of her life, and it was that which would live on, and inspire so many to see light when all else felt dark, to find the happiness amongst sorrow, and continue on in the face of failure.
