The wind bit Rodney's face as he stared into the grave dug on the mainland.

The Athosian funeral song was a dim roar in the back of his head, as was Elizabeth's meaningless eulogy. He refused to let himself cry; he hadn't cried since his first cat had died when he was ten, and he wasn't about to now. Rodney's fingers traced John's face, thoughtfully, as if he was a complex equation that Rodney couldn't quite give up trying to figure out.

"You made me love you" He whispered to himself, "I didn't want to do it."

Not a single teardrop fell.
