Keep You Safe
A/N: Well, this one is fairly different from anything else I've written. I used to loathe and despise parenthesis, but I kind of liked playing around with things in this. So, yes, bear in mind this is quite a weird one. You need to have your brain in gear while reading it, otherwise it just looks kind of stupid. :)
Anyway... this is a different writing style from me. Let me know what you think of it. Oh, and this is definitely a oneshot. Completed, and all. Not a story. I have enough of those already. :)
Stars fall from the sky.
They bathe the world in their perennial light, never-changing… they are eternal.
Some say those stars are evil. (She knows otherwise.)
Some say those stars are vampires.
She (who loves the vampires) likes to pretend she is the only keeper of those stars. She (of the chocolate eyes) is the only one who knows, who guards their secrets.
(But there is another.)
The other knows too. The other knows the secrets of the stars, the blinding lights that shine in the daylight and smile (heartbreaking) with their pale faces. (They glow in the daytime… they're the most beautiful thing she's ever seen.)
At first she was afraid.
At first, she screamed. (She thought her lungs would burst…)
But then she was no longer afraid. She knew they wouldn't hurt her (they never would) or anyone else. She felt pity – it clawed at her. They were so alone. (Lonely stars.)
They drifted, unchanging, constant as the tides and always constantly young.
And alone. Oh, so alone.
How did they cope? (Like every other human…)
Except they were not human.
She would keep their secret (keep them safe). She loved them… how could anyone who knew them (who knew them as they did) not love them? - (Bella knew.)- They were so compassionate. - (She loved them.) -
She felt a surge of anger at those who would persecute them. Because they were 'different'. (Oh, so wonderfully different.)
But she didn't want to be like them.
She would not wish that on anyone.
Though they were beautiful, they were cursed. (Cursed stars.)
So she kept her mind safe – kept it still. They couldn't know if she kept her mind safe. (Alice couldn't see.)
She knew of their gifts. (Gifted stars.)
Bella had talked of them… when she thought that the other could not hear. But she heard. She murmured in her sleep (in her fitful nightmares)… she confessed (his sins) her weakness.
And she listened.
Through listening (what she did best) she learned of the Cullens. She was shocked...
But she would keep their secret safe. (Until her grave.)
She would keep the secrets of the lonely cursed gifted. ... (Lonely, cursed, gifted stars.)
She would keep the vampires safe.
Because she loved them. (She pitied them.)
Angela glanced up from the lunch table, looking over at the Cullens.
Edward looked up, briefly meeting her eyes, before turning his tawny gaze downwards again.
Angela smiled to herself. (The stars were still safe.)
(Still unaware that there was another who protected their secret.)
Stars fall from the sky.
But she would catch them…
