The End of an Era

Disclaimer: Ha! I wish!

A/N: This is a Ten/Rose fic. It's basically a internal thoughts sort of fic from both POVs at the end of Doomsday. Enjoy and remember people...reviews are love!

"I…I love you."

"Quite right too. And…I suppose…if it's my last chance to say it…Rose Tyler…"

A girl stood on the beach, staring at a man in a brown pinstriped suit, her shoulder-length ash blonde hair blowing in the wind. The image faded before her eyes and her vision swam. The beach ahead of her was just a haze as she choked back the heartbroken sobs that stuck in her throat. Pictures flashed through her mind. Oh, the things she had seen. A giant green monster hunting her through Downing Street. A gas-masked child desperate for it's mummy. Metal men that killed all in their path and an evil more terrible than anything else: a cold metal cage, a blue eyestalk and a screaming voice that had broken her heart. She would never forget them.

Nor would she forget the man who showed them to her. The Bad Wolf. The Lonely Angel. The Oncoming Storm. A man unlike any other. A man who could change his face. He had taken her away in his magical machine and had changed her life forever. No, she would never forget the Doctor, her Doctor. He had taught her to love unconditionally and she had helped him to find salvation. He was her one and only love and she couldn't bear the thought of not seeing him again.

That was it. That was the moment that broke her. She would never see her angel again. She had lost him forever. The tears came like a flood down her cheeks; a cascade of salty droplets drenching her face-she had never felt so alone.

Rose Tyler turned away from Bad Wolf Bay and dragged her feet towards her mother. Jackie Tyler opened her arms to her daughter and enveloped her in a heart-warming hug. This was the end of an era for the Doctor and Rose.

The Doctor wiped a solitary tear from his cheek. The Time War had hardened him to heartbreak but losing Rose was too much to bear. Memories swam into his mind. Catching her as she fell. Holding her in his arms. The Tardis still smelled of her perfume; that familiar flowery scent that followed her everywhere.

A flash of purple caught his eye and he was drawn towards a jacket that was folded neatly over a handrail. It was Rose's. He put it up to his face and inhaled it's scent-"Rose perfume for my Rose," he had always said and now this was all he had to remind him of the life they had together, that was so cruelly ripped apart. He crumpled it and flung it back over the handrail.

He flicked a switch on the Tardis' control panel and turned to face the doors. A woman with fiery red hair, wearing a white gown and a veil spun around and glared at him. He had leapt into another adventure already, leaving behind the one adventure that he could never have.
