Jean shifted around while the florist bundled up his purchase. He shouldn't have stopped for flowers because he was late, though that was the reason he stopped for flowers in the first place. Taking out his cigarettes, he lit it from the end of the one he was still smoking, grinding the old one out on his heel. The pretty ribbon around the bouquet came at no extra charge as the florist bantered with him. Jean fidgeted with his lighter, wishing this wasn't making him that much later.
He imagined her at the café, restless, maybe looking at her watch, wondering if he had stood her up, as if any man would. As he hurried through the city, Jean pictured her in his mind, the midnight waterfall of her hair, the amethyst of her eyes, the amazing curves of her body. Breasts like that made him believe in God. He wanted to taste those glorious mounds of flesh, caress them, bury his head between them.
His heart rate picked up speed, seeing her sitting at a sidewalk table, seeming content with her tea. In her high-necked Xingese styled tunic, she was so incredibly alluring. Not wanting to meet her with a cigarette dangling from his lips, Jean ground it out. "Solaris!" He called and her smile shooed away any worries she might be mad he was late. His luck with women was finally changing.
