Author's Note: In my version, Cordy and Groo went on vacation, but it was just that--a vacation--no sex.

Cordy softly opened the door to Angel's room. The scene before her nearly broke her heart. Angel was sitting on the bed, head down, in obvious pain.

She went to him and sat beside him on the bed. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry."

Those three little words are more than he can take. His tears turn into heartwrenching sobs. She pulled him into her arms, holding him as she cried with him.

"You should lay down" she told him.

He nodded and climbed into his bed. "Don't leave me."

"I'll never leave you, Angel. Never."

"Can I--I need--I just want to hold you," he said quietly. She smiled and climbed into bed beside him, wrapping her own arms around him as he did the same, looking into his eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" she asked.

"For being so needy. I just get so lonely, Cordy." This broke her heart.

"Angel, you have nothing to be sorry for." She gently touched his face. "I love you, Angel."

"But what about Groo?"

"Angel, the whole time I was gone I was thinking about you," she told him.

"Then why did you need the potion?"

"Because what I didn't tell you about the potion was that it made me part demon."

"And?" he asked.

She smiled at him. "It means I can be with you."

"But Cordy, I can't. You know that."

"Angel, you don't understand. Because I'm not fully human, the whole perfect bliss thing doesn't matter."

The most beautiful smile she'd ever seen slowly spread across his face. "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you, too," she told him before she leaned in for a sweet kiss.

Breaking apart, he just smiled. "That's nice to see," she told him, with a smile of her own.

"What?" he asked.

"Your smile. You don't do it enough."

"I don't usually have much of a reason to."

"Why not?"

"Cordy, I've been so lonely. I've loved you for so long and couldn't tell you."

"Angel, I've known for a long time that you love me."

"What? How?"

She laughed. "You can't hide your emotions from me that well, no matter what you may think. I know when you're sad, happy or anywhere in between. The love you feel for me is right there in your eyes, Angel."

He smiled. "And here I thought I was doing a good job of hiding it."

"No. But you do a great job of showing me that you think I'm special."

He gently touched her cheek. "You are special. You are the most important thing in my life. I don't know what I'd do without you. I love you so much, Cordy."

She entwined her fingers with his. "Angel, I don't know what I'd do without you, either. I've loved you for so long I don't know how not to love you. You are my best friend, my soul mate, my everything. I love you," she whispered, as the tears streamed down her face.

He gently wiped them away. "I'm so tired," she told him.

"Sleep, my love," he told her.

She smiled. "I like that."

He kissed her gently and pulled her closer, her head resting against his chest. With a smile, they closed their eyes and settled in for an afternoon nap, wrapped in each other's arms. They slept peacefully knowing that their lives together were just beginning.
