"Come With Me"

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar The Last Airbender or anything close to it...but a dvd of the first season...

Zuko is the new Fire lord now. After Sozin's comet things are peaceful in the world. Zuko rules with fairness. Though is mind is far from easy. Ever since the avatar took his father's bending away, he has been troubled with his past. His mother mostly. He thinks about her constantly. So, to get his mind off of things (and see some old friends) he invites the Avatar, his crew, and some old friends to his palace.

Zuko put on his robe and greeted his guests. He was happy to see them all.

"Katara, Aang. Welcome, glad you could make it" Zuko greeted.

"We wouldn't miss it" Aang smiled, his arm hooked around Kataras.

"It's good to see you again, Zuko" Katara smiled. They were both elegantly dressed for the occasion. Katara was now ambassador of the Southern Water tribe. Aang, the avatar, finally admitted his feelings for her and they've been living together in the South Pole. Zuko smiled.

"It's good to see you too" He watched them go over to the ordure's.

"Oh, so, you're not going to say hi to us?" Zuko turned around to where the voice was coming from and saw Sokka standing there with Suki by his side. Zuko smiled.

"Hi" He stated. Sokka broke out into a huge smile and shook his hand. Suki hugged him.

"It's so good to see you again Zuko" Suki stated, letting go of the Fire lord.

"Good to see you too" He said back. After the Comet Sokka was promoted to head general of the Southern Water tribe army. Although he wasn't needed much anymore. He and Suki traveled the world together. "Make yourselves at home" Zuko gestured into his palace. He turned to walk back inside and mingle with the crowd when someone knocked lightly at the door. The guards turned to Zuko questioning the guest.

She was short, her black hair longer then the last time he saw her.

"Toph!" He ran back towards the door. She wore a simple fire nation dress. Which Zuko thought was odd, with her being an earth bender. "I'm glad you could…uh…. make it" Zuko couldn't' help but blush. Toph was taller, and certainly more filled out then she was before the comet. "How have you been?" He asked.

"Alright." Came her short response. She didn't tease him like she used to. Zuko knew something was wrong.

"Are you sure? What's up Toph?" For a brief second Zuko's mind flashed back to when Toph held onto Zuko's arm for support right before the comet.

"I'm fine…it's just…" She whispered to him. "I can't see…"

"Yeah, you're blind" Zuko suppressed a laugh.

"No, um…" She pulled her dress away to reveal her nice looking sandals on her feet. "I…wanted to look nice…" Zuko laughed now.

"You didn't have to do that" Toph blushed.

"I…wanted to Fire breath" There's the Toph Zuko knows.

"Take them off then" Zuko smiled, Toph did. Music started up. "Can you see now?" Zuko asked. Toph nodded.

"Much better. Now, dance with me Fire breath" Toph stated and they went to the dance floor.

"Can I ask…why are you wearing a fire nation dress?" Zuko asked as they danced. She stopped suddenly in her tracks.

"Because…I can't go home…" She stated dryly.

"What?" Now Zuko stopped, surprised.

"My parents exiled me for lying to them and helping a resistance force." She explained. She tilted her head to the ground. Zuko lifted her chin up.

"I think I know a thing or two about exile" He took her hand and led her off of the dance floor. They stood by a huge marble pillar. "Toph, will you come with me?"

"What?" She didn't understand what he was trying to say.

"Come with me…to find my mother" He finished. Toph smiled, brighter then she ever had before.

"Sure fire breath, I'd love to"
