"You and I are going to play a little game...."
It was three or four in the morning when the shadow came, donning a shirt freshly missing a button, or three. Perfect for a warm night but not quite so when a freak storm was blowing outside....
Eduard didn't think have time to dwell on it as Ludwig positioned himself on one corner of the bed - furthest from his legs - and waited for an answer. A presence one can't simply ignore and breathe at the same time.
"What kind of game ?" He ventured at last, moving so he was sitting cross-legged on the sheets.
A slow smirk. "I believe the importance of the game lies in what is at stake, not in the details."
Of course things were never as simple as it sounds. This was Ludwig sitting on the edge of his bed after all.
"This is about Orphe. Isn't it ?"
A pause. Their gazes locked momentarily.
"If I win, you will persuade Orpherus to give up the bed."
Bingo, it was the get-him-using-his-best-friend tactic.
"And if you lose ?"
"You should be aware, Eduard," Lui rolled up his shirt sleeves to reveal long pale arms with spots that hinted the beginnings of a bruise... and what suspiciously looked like a bite mark ? "Failure is out of the question."
