A Whiter Shade of Pale

Seimei sees the world in colors.

Mostly he sees drab and plain colors. These are the everyday people he is forced to interact with and pass on the streets. People who don't deserve a first glance let alone a second one. They are no better than roaches in his view.

Occasionally though he will encounter someone who is a bright or unusual color. His mother, for example, is apple red while his father is dark purple. Worth some acknowledgment because they did have a few useful traits, but not enough to really stand out in his eyes.

Soubi is another. Soubi is a mix of blue and green. A tainted color unsure of its own identity as it is stuck between two different shades. It matches Soubi perfectly.

Seimei knows what color he is. Black, black, black an endless, perfect, midnight black. Beautiful, brilliant black. It fits him wonderfully. Black swallows everything and strikes fear and awe in people. Just like Seimei.

But there is another color that he loves even more. A shade he could gaze upon all day if he could. It was the color of his baby brother.

White.

Ritsuka is white.

Pure, perfect, unsoiled white. He is the definition of innocence. He is clean and clear regardless of the red that woman makes him spill with her dirty little hands. Not even the tears he cries can stain his perfection. He is always white.

Seimei finds this fitting. He is black and Ritsuka is white; opposites but at the same time the same. Two startling colors that match so wonderfully against each other. It is all the proof he needs that Ritsuka and he belong together.

Seimei sees the world in colors and Ritsuka is his favorite shade of them all.
