Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts or the song. Squeenix owns Kingdom Hearts and the song is Too Much by All Time Low (BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SHIZZZ, YO!). I'm not exactly sure if the words I used for "I love you" are all correct, but hey, I tried.
I tried to make this as sad as possible but hey, I sort of suck at angst. I've never seen any of my best friends die (thank God), so I hoped I conveyed her feelings correctly. Tell me your guess about who the girl is!
She stared numbly at the face of her best friend. She stared at his lifeless form. She stared at his sightless eyes, the color of the sea. She stared at his too-pale skin. She stared at the note beside his body. She stared because he was gone, gone, gone, and there was nothing she could do about it. No tears fell; she was too dried up, too shocked to cry.
What happened why isn't he smiling why did it happen whywhywhy...
He had committed suicide, leaving her alone in the world.
Why did you do this why did you leave me alone why aren't you smiling you did what you wanted why aren't you smiling...
He should be smiling. He should be smiling, because he had done what he had to do; yet he was frowning, almost imperceptible, but he was frowning. She couldn't understand why he wasn't smiling. He had finally did what he'd been longing to do, so why wasn't he smiling?
She looked again at the note, looked at the scribbled words written hurriedly as the best goodbye he could give.
I've said this so many times, but sorry.
Wo ie ni, wo ai ni. Aishiteru. Je t'aime. Ich liebe Dich. Ti amo. Te amo, vos amo. Ani ohev otach.
I love you.
Let's meet again in the next life, to quote Axel.
He loved her, he loved her and he wouldn't stay in this world for her. He loved her, and he couldn't stay in this world for her. He loved her; he always told her that, but she never took it seriously, because he didn't, and he didn't mean those words as much as he did when he wrote them.
I miss you I miss you we miss you why did you do this you're hurting us stop it stop it stopit stopit stopitstopitstopit...
Her thoughts turned into a mantra.
Her mouth opened in a voiceless scream, and she fell to her knees, tears pricking at her eyes. She cradled his head in her lap, refusing to let the tears flow, not yet.
Roxas, Roxas, Roxas...
His blue eyes stared sightlessly at her. He was gone, gone, gone forever, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Roxas why why why...
A lump formed in her throat. It was a pity he was gone, she realized through the haze of her chaotic thoughts. He had been in a fight with his twin and Sora didn't even get the chance to apologize. His now-ex-girlfriend would probably cry when she heard the news of his death. Riku would probably be happy at his death, the bastard.
She remembered their song; it was always changing, but the latest one was sad.
She realized how much having "their song" had meant to her.
She understood that Roxas had chosen it because of what was going to happen. She hadn't understood at the time, but now she did.
One lyric sprang to mind:
Too much of anything is too much...
And she cried, her tears dripping from her face to his own, because he was gone, gone, gone, and there was nothing she could do about it.
