Disclaimer: I do not own the Harry Potter characters they belong to JK Rowling.
The books fell into the trunk with a loud thud. The young woman turned and picked up another set of books that lay nearby she threw them into the trunk as well.
"Come on, Gabrielle, if you don't get a move on, we'll be late," the woman said firmly to the younger girl that stood behind her. She turned and looked at her, seeing a sad expression on her face.
"You need to go to Beauxbatons, Gabrielle," she said softly.
"But I don't want to go," Gabrielle replied.
"I don't want to go without you, Fleur, it won't be the same," she continued. Tears began to fall slowly down the young girl's face when she said this. Gabrielle tried to wipe the tears from her face but the tears kept falling again and again despite her continuous efforts to stop them.
Fleur stared at her younger sister, standing across the room. She cleared the trunk from the bed next to her and sat down on it. She patted the space beside her on the bed. "Come here, Gabrielle," she said. The young girl wiped the tears from her face. She then took a deep breath and crossed the room, sitting down on the bed next to her older sister. Gabrielle looked up at her older sister and waited.
"I know that it will not be the same. I will miss you terribly as well," Fleur said.
"If it helps, I will write to you every day – twice a day if you want," she said, smiling down at her younger sister.
"Really?" Gabrielle asked her sister. Fleur nodded to her.
"Yes," she said in reply. Gabrielle smiled up at her and hugged her sister.
Fleur returned the smile and hugged her younger sister back. Then, she kissed the top of her sister's head. They stayed like that for a few minutes, then Fleur broke the hug.
"Come on, we are going to be late," she said as she got up from the bed. Fleur charmed the trunk to float behind them. She turned back to her younger sister who still sat on the bed and she held out her arm for her sister to take.
"Let's go," she said, her eyes twinkling.
Gabrielle smiled at her sister then she jumped up from the bed and took her sister's arm. The two sisters walked out of the bedroom, arm in arm, with the trunk floating slowly behind them.
Author note: This drabble was written for Bad Mum who requested a drabble featuring Gabrielle and the prompt "But I Don't Want to Go" in the Drabble Request Thread on the HPFC Forum. I would like to thank Wordy (The Word Foundation) for betaing this for me. Read and review please.
