Title: Commit it to Memory

Rating: T

Genre: Poetry/Angst

Story Format: Oneshot

Warnings: Ridiculous amounts of symbolism, but other than that nothing you need to worry about

Universe: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Characters: Axel, Roxas, Naminè

Summary: We have no one to be, yet we still are. No room for pain and no room for scars. You turned your back on me for the key to your destiny. So commit it to memory, I'll take back what you took from me.

Chapter Playlist: "Warning" by Incubus; "Pardon Me" by Incubus; "Hero" by Nickelback

Author's Note: This was so much fun to write! It makes a kickass song, I got to play bits and pieces of it on my acoustic. Anyway, lots of symbolism, interpret it any way you like. Friendship, Akuroku, I really wasn't aiming for either. The next song is from Xion, and maybe one from Roxas and Naminè. Suggestions for either one would be great!

Commit it to Memory

From fire to steel and burning wheels

Jade eyes set alight from the lies

Banished to oblivion we fight for a reason

We've all got our own, and I run the show

Standing in the middle of the dancing flames

Given a piece of the dark and a fragmented name

So what if we're incomplete and we have no one to be?

As far as I'm concerned you reach for the fire just to burn

How does it feel to not feel at all?

Do you still think you're real when the pain doesn't come from the fall?

We have no one to be, yet we still are

No room for pain and no room for scars

You turned your back on me for the key to your destiny

So commit it to memory

I'll take back what you took from me

Go ahead and leave behind all that you thought you'd find

Because you won't walk away this time after you've crossed the line

Got it memorized?

The fire reflecting in your eyes illuminates all your lies

Do you even know who I am?

Would you trust me given the chance?

I've got the answers you're searching for

Come back with me and I'll tell you more

But if you turn your back on me

You'll become nothing from a Nobody

Don't you see that you're just like me?

Incomplete with no one to be

But you always felt like the half I was missing

I didn't care what I was risking

You were the light keeping my fire alive

I did what I had to do, and it was all for you

So how could you walk away when I wanted you to stay?

We have no one to be yet we still are

No room for hope and no room for scars

You turned your back on me for the Key to Destiny

Commit it to memory

I'll take back what you took from me

Go ahead and leave behind all that you thought you could find

The tick-tock of the tower

Defining the hour

Our time's running low

But I'm sure you already know

The witch and I aren't complete

And you've got your own destiny

Go on and get the answers you need to find

We'll meet again in the next life

Got it memorized?
