"So, Sara, did you wear white?" Greg asked, grinning wide.
"Nope," she replied, taking a sip of her beer and snuggling a little closer to her friend. They'd been on his couch for the past two hours, watching an action flick. As the credits rolled across the screen, she smiled.
"What was the wedding like?"
"Very nice," Sara said, smiling in memory. It really had been.
"But no white, huh?"
"Nope," Sara replied.
"Are we back to the whole 'exchange of property' philosophy you don't like?" Greg asked.
"Why no white dress?"
"Have you ever known Grissom or me to be hung up on tradition?"
"Nope," Greg replied, grinning. "But I've never known you to be coy, either."
Sighing, Sara reached into her vest pocket and pulled out a folded photo. Handing it to Greg, she waited while he perused the only wedding picture that existed of her wedding. Yes, the dress had been white. A silk wrap that ended above the knee.
"Um… Sara? Why are the trees bending sideways?"
"We hadn't anticipated a monsoon," she replied.
"Well… that would explain the mud," Greg retorted, chuckling.
"Never have an outdoor wedding, Greg. It's hard on a bride's nerves."
"I can imagine," he replied. "You look like someone dragged you through a pit of dirt, and then just tossed chunks at you for the heck of it."
Wistfully, she remembered how she and Grissom had laughed and laughed over fate. They'd battled obstacles their entire relationship. It seemed fitting they'd both be coated with oozing filth at the time of their nuptials.
"So no white," Greg confirmed.
"Nope. But it was a beautiful day."
