Summary: Happiness is everything when you're in love.
I feel like a criminal when I make love to Dana, a thief. She's assured me so many times that I am who she wants to be with, that Mulder's never coming back and even if she did, she's had enough with him. I believe her, but I feel guilty because I know Mulder would not approve of us. At least, not right away.
I've lost count of how many times she's fallen asleep beside me, her bare skin touching mine, her head comfortably resting on my chest. I feel her breath on my skin.
She's the love of my life. She told me I've brought her back to life. Well she's done the same for me. Eight years ago I thought I'd never love again, and here I am basking in the bliss of Dana's love for me. Who would have known we'd find love with each other after all we've both been through? It surprised us both.
Her hand caresses my chest hair. She's awake. I look down at her. She smiles and readjusts her hand on my chest.
"What's keeping you up?" she whispers.
She smiles again. Though it's dark, I know she's blushing. She pulls herself up and kisses my cheek.
"I love you too, John."
She gives me an Eskimo kiss and lies back down.
I call this bliss.
