Hey guys! This is short. And sad/angsty. Just warning you, i think it's ok. Dedicated to Hay (OutCold) because she helped me with it, and she knows that deep down... she hates me. :P Don't worry. Anyway, i hope you like it!
Disclaimer: I. Own. Nothing. *has a nervous breakdown*
Her heart was protesting, bundled, wrapped up in a pain so excruciating she couldn't breathe. She choked, tears falling freely like a fast flowing stream down the delicate skin of her cheeks. "No," she whispered softly, "No," she said, more loudly this time.
"Don't," he whispered, "Don't do this,"
Her anguished, pain filled cries were muffled by his chest as he pulled her to him, she flipped round, struggling against him. She kicked and wriggled with a terrifying anger to it all, trying to fight him off. Like he was the enemy. But he kept his grip, and tightly. She was smaller than him, and grief had blinded her ability to think like she normally could. She kicked and she screamed but he didn't loosen his arms.
Breathing heavily her chest rose and fell, tears still spilling from her dark, usually teasing eyes. "Zee, don't do this," he said, tears splashing down his own cheeks. She gave a strangled cry in response, as she continued her ferocious attempts to fight him off, desperate to get away, hoping, praying that running might relieve the pain, that getting away from it would help. Make it all go away.
Something shifted within her though, and she stopped the screaming and the fighting, as she felt the wet pricks of rain on her skin, and instead of fighting she slowly let the defeat sap through her body, her small form going limp in his arms. Shaking and sobbing, she sank to the ground in his arms. He buried his face in her long hair, emotions racing through him at a thousand miles an hour.
He had never seen her lose control this way, never seen her this vulnerable. Never been this close to her. Her body racked with sobs, each quiver as she drew in breath, each tiny little movement hurting his heart. And he cried, pressing salty kisses gently to the top of her head. Not caring about the line he was crossing, not caring about much of anything anymore.
She clung to him, and eventually the sobs subsided a little. She ran her fingers through his wet hair, and they clung to each other, on the ground. In that moment no one else mattered, nothing else mattered. Tears gently flowed down her face still, a steady stream of pain.
Everything seemed surreal, like in a dream, or a nightmare. But it wasn't, it was reality.
Eventually, she somehow summoned up the strength, the courage, to look into his eyes. And her heart shattered into a million pieces. He couldn't speak; the pain he could see in her eyes was hurting him, and knowing he was the cause... it made everything so much harder.
She just looked at him, tear filled eyes, and whispered softly, a scared, vulnerable look in her eye, "But, but I love you," She whispered, incredibly softly, trailing as hand down her cheek.
A kind of terrible pain washed over him, a regret, so strong that it was difficult to describe, it felt like he was suffocating, choking in her words. He placed his forehead against hers, and she looked at him, and saw the look in his eyes, and an awful sense of dread flooded her, no, no, no. He couldn't... because that would mean. He saw it in his eyes before he said the words, the words that tore her heart out of her chest, and all she could do was cry.
"I love you too,"
