Title: Missing The Clues
Summary: Sometimes the Hanyou/Human and youth factors aren't the only thing in the way of romance. Written for the teacup challenge at LJ's First Tweak.
Kagome sunk deeper into thought, absently playing with her teacup, running a finger over the uneven edge of the lip. She was missing something, she knew it. If she just could figure out what it was. Inuyasha had been acting a little odder than usual, casually running his fingers over the back of her hands and occasionally giving the skin a light tweak. He had seemed so downhearted when she had scolded him the first time that she never did it again. It's not like it hurt… it was just so strange.
And then today, the innkeeper gave Inuyasha a leering smile. He'd immediately let go of her arm and threatened to bash the innkeeper's skull in. Only a quick intervention by Miroku-sama had saved the poor man. Then Miroku-sama had glared at Inuyasha, full of some man-to-man meaning and Inuyasha dropped the whole matter with a reddened face! Sango-chan had even swished by the innkeeper with her head held high, to Kagome's ever deepening confusion.
Her brow narrowed, and she suddenly tipped the teacup toward herself; barely righting it before the last drops of tea landed on her clothes. Sheesh, all she needed was more stained clothes to take home to Mama. Kagome wondered faintly if her mother might have a clue about all of this, but no, she knew the clues lay in this era and not her own.
Sango-chan had to know what was going on. She just had to come up with a good way to ask without embarrassing herself over a something she wasn't sure was going on in the first place. Kagome sunk deeper into thought, absently playing with her teacup, running a finger over the uneven edge of the lip.
Kissing is more of a Western convention and didn't really become popular till the 1900s. In older days, a close friend or lover would touch the back of the hand in affection, and sometimes a light pinch was added. More intimate is touching the forearms. Even the light bit of touching Inuyasha was doing was inappropriate at the time, and led that degenerate innkeeper to think worse of Kagome.
