--First shot at this challenge thing. Enjoy.--
Hush Little Brother
"Sammy, don't." He cautiously stepped toward his brother.
Sam shook his head, eyes swollen and wet.
"I have to!" He said hoarsely. "I have to, Dean there's no other way!" Dean knelt in front of him.
"Yes there is. You can fight this Sammy." He said gently.
"I'M A MONSTER!" Sam screamed.
"Hey, hey, easy, Sammy," Dean glanced at the empty bottle of whiskey on the nightstand as he grasped Sam's shoulder. "Sammy, listen to me, we can get through this, okay? You're not a monster."
"How can you say that?" Sam asked, voice hoarse and trembling, eyes watering. "You know what I did. I'm His vessel, Dean. That has to make mea monster. It has to. You should have killed me when Dad told you to." Dean shook his head.
"You don't have to be a monster, Sammy. You don't have to tell him yes. You don't have to do this."
"Yes I do," Sam gulped. "It's the only way I can be sure. The only way." Dean felt his eyes water at the sight of his shattered brother.
"Sammy, please give me the knife." Sam shook his head, pressing the blade harder to his wrist. Dean winced when a drop of blood spilled out and onto the floor.
"I can't, I can't. I have to do this. To save you. I have to…" Dean wrapped his hand around his brother's, prying Sam's fingers off the handle.
"I'm gonna help you through this, Sammy. It's gonna be okay." Sam resisted slightly, but let his fingers loosen. The knife hit the floor with a thud. Sam collapsed on his knees, face in his hands, sobbing. Dean wrapped his arms around his little brother, letting him sob against his shoulder.
"Shh…It's alright. It's gonna be okay, Sammy. I'm here. And I won't say yes as long as you don't, okay? We're gonna do this together, like we always do," Sam clung to Dean tight. "Shh, hush little brother. It's alright." They would keep each other strong. And if they didn't…
If they didn't, they'd die trying.
