Story Title: Space and the Twenty-seventh Touch

Summary: E/O CHALLENGE – Word of the Week: Space. After an unfortunate visual discovery, both Sam and Dean encounter a rather unexpected surprise.

Disclaimer: Supernatural and its characters are not mine. Just the ideas and the mayhem they bring.

Challenge Date: November 08, 2009

Total Word Count: 500 (excludes 100 word drabble)

"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before."

Sam groaned aloud as he listened to the now familiar phrase for the twenty-seventh time. Since that latest Star Trek movie, Dean became obsessed with the original series, and Sam was so engrossed contemplating how the infernal series could disappear that he failed to hear the door open.

Suddenly, something touched his shoulder and before he blacked out, Sam made an undignified noise.

Author's Note: And now… the story version.

Chapter One: The Twenty-seventh Touch

Word Count: 200

"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before."

Sam groaned aloud. Ever since that latest Star Trek movie came out, it seemed Dean had become obsessed with the show… the original show, that is. So now, as he sat on the bed awaiting Dean's return, he listened to the now familiar phrasing repeated itself once again for the twenty-seventh time this week. He quickly became thoroughly engrossed in his thoughts as he contemplated a few things; namely being the plethora of various methods with which he could cause the case containing the DVD version of that entire infernal series—and quite possibly Dean's cards and cash—to simply go "poof".

Now one would think that with the apocalypse, all the demons and now the devil after him, that Sam would not have allowed himself to be drawn back into his contemplative, "younger" ways. But nnoooo, heaven—or hell—forbid that.

Suddenly, he felt something touch his shoulder and in the instant before he blacked out, Sam made a decidedly undignified noise.

Author's Note: *head hits hand* I couldn't help it… I saw the word space and suddenly "Space: the final frontier" in Spock's voice came through my warped mental processor.
