I hated writing this and it's so sad to me. It seems at some parts that it doubts God. NOT WHAT I MEAN!!! IT'S ONLY CONTEXT!!!! The song used here is a real song by The Decembrists. It is called Yankee Bayonet.

TO DEATH DO US PART

Marlene couldn't believe what the now sobbing Private said to her. Skipper was dead. It couldn't happen. NO! IT COULDN'T! PRIVATE WAS LYING!! SOME SICK PRACTICAL JOKE!!! But it was true Skipper's body was blown up on one of their missions and the worst part was. They had only been married the day before! She fell back on the bed and sobbing hit her. She was uncontrollable and now she remembered a song she had heard on the radio. A song of two lovers who lost each other. (The back in chorus isn't in but the main is. It's about the Civil War.)

YANKEE BAYONET

Solider: High carved tree trunk, Yankee bayonet, a sweetheart left behind,

Girl: Far from the hills in the sea-swell Carolinas; that's where my true love lies.

Solider: Look for me when the sun bright swallow sings upon the birch bow high,

Girl: But you are in the ground with the wolves and the weevils all achew on your bones so dry.

Together: But when the sun breaks to no more bullets in battle creak. Will you make a grave? For I will be home then, I will be home then, I will be home then, ttthhheeennn.

Girl: When I was a girl how the hills of Oconee used to hand me in,

Solider: There at the fair, my eyes caught careless, got my heart right pierced by a pin.

Soldier: But oh did you see all the dead of Manassas? All the bellies in the bones and the bile.

Girl: No I lingered here with the blankets barren and my own belly big with child.

Together: But when the sun breaks to no more bullets in battle creak. Will you make a grave? For I will be home then, I will be home then, I will be home then, ttthhheeennn.

Together: Stems and bones and stone walls too, keep me from YOU!

Scale of skin is all too few, TOO KEEP ME FROM YOU!

Together: But oh my love though our bodies may be parted, though our skin may not touch skin. Look for me wit the sun bright sparrow, I will come on the breath of the wind.

She could hear the whole sad song in her head. How could God let this happen?! HOW COULD GOD LET IT HAPPEN?!

"YOU'VE TAKEN AWAY EVERYTHING THAT I LOVED!!!!" she shouted at the raining sky. "JUST KILL ME NOW!!!!"

Thunder sounded but nothing. She fell on the ground crying. Then Private tapped her shoulder.

"M-M-M-M-Marlene," he sounded like he was going to be sick. "H-he wanted you to have this."

He handed her a folded piece of wet paper. She opened it and looked at it and her eyes filled with tears again. It was a picture of Skipper, smiling. How could he smile?! She took it inside and as it began to dry she saw what was written at the bottom"

Please don't cry.

HOW COULD SHE NOT CRY?!?!?! And as she lay there crying, a strange thing happened. She swore that she didn't get the now dry picture wet with her tears, not even a drop and yet when she looked, a tear rolled down from one of Skipper's eyes. It slowly rolled down the paper and landed in her hand. She stopped crying. She understood now. At the bottom another tear dripped over the words.

I swore to death do us part.
