Forget-Me-Not

"Forget me not" said the men who died in the wars.

"Forget me not" wept the son,

As he longed to stay with those he loved.

"Forget me not" Cried out the brother,

As he was taken away forever.

"Forget me not" Quaked the cousin,

As he said goodbye and wished it was hello.

"Forget me not" Whispered the husband,

As he held his wife close.

"Forget me not" implored the father,

As he loved his children to the end.

"Forget me not" Laughed the Uncle,

As he tried to make last memories cheerful.

"Forget me not" begged the men to their country,

As the train puffed up to take them away forever.

"Forget me not"

But they all did.
