Author's Note: Spoilers for "Sectionals," so don't read if you haven't seen it yet. Thanks to my beta for the quick beta work on this!

He knew that she was leaving – the school bell had rung, and Glee rehearsal was over, so the hallways would be mostly clear by now – and he hoped that she hadn't left quite yet. She did have to pack her things, after all. But there were so many things that he had left unsaid, things that he couldn't, in good conscience, let her leave McKinley without hearing.

Running through the hallways, he rounded the corner into her office. No sign of her - almost like she had never been there to begin with. Her desk was cleared off, everything that had made the office more than just an office gone.

He wasn't going to give up. He couldn't give up. There was too much on the line.

After what seemed like an eternity of chasing shadows through the hallway, he spotted her, carrying a box in her hands through the halls. Probably headed for her car, he thought. He had to stop her, had to tell her.

As he made his way down the hall and took the box from her hands, gently placing it on the ground, he could see her face colored with shock. She tried to ask a question, tried to find out what he was doing there. For that, he only had one answer.

Without saying a word, he gently placed a finger in front of her lips, and then, moving it, replaced it a fraction of a moment later with his lips.

It was different than kissing – no, he refused to think of anyone but Emma right now, flat out refused – it was just as he had thought kissing Emma would be like.

When they broke apart, and he saw her smile for the first time in the longest time – a genuine smile – he realized he had said everything he needed to say, and she had heard him loud and clear.
