Angel sat in his room at the hotel, alone. After nearly a year, he was back. It was good to be home, but so many memories flooded his mind. Memories of Cordelia, of Fred, Wes and Gunn, all gone now. As he thought about his beloved Cordy, he knew he'd never get over losing her. He knew he'd love her forever. He dropped his head to his chest as the tears started to fall.
He was so lost in his grief that he missed the door opening or of the footsteps that drew nearer with each passing moment.
"Angel," a voice that he would recognize anywhere whispered his name. He shook his head, thinking he was imagining things.
"Open your eyes, Angel. You're not dreaming."
He slowly opened his eyes. What he saw there brought fresh tears to his eyes. "Cordy," he whispered.
Cordy knelt down in front of him and smiled. "It's me, Angel."
She smiled. "Silly man. Don't you remember what I told you in your office at Wolfram & Hart?"
Angel nodded. "You said I'll be seeing you."
"And here I am. The Powers sent me home. They knew you needed me."
"I do," he agreed. "I need you so much."
Cordy smiled tenderly. "And now you have me. Forever."
She nodded. "I'm tied to you, Angel. I'll live as long as you do."
She knew the moment he understood the full implications of what she'd just told him because the most beautiful smile slowly spread across his handsome face. He pulled her into his lap and wrapped his arms around her. "I love you so much, Cordy."
"I love you, too, Angel," she whispered as a single tear fell.
Angel gently brushed it away. "What's wrong, Baby?"
"I've just dreamed of hearing those words for so long. It's so good to finally hear them."
Angel leaned his forehead against hers. "How about I say them to you every day for the rest of our lives?"
Angel smiled and softly brushed his lips across hers in their first official kiss as a couple. It wasn't a kiss goodbye. It was simply a kiss, one of many more kisses to come. And it was perfect.
