Author's Note: I really need to stop listening to music or watching movies. It's not a good thing… Anyway, just watched Dirty Dancing and I can totally see Sophie conning Nate into something like this
"Come on Nate. You know you can pull it off." Sophie complained. Nate scowled.
"No. Absolutely not. I can't dance, Sophie."
"Now that's a lie. I've danced with you countless times, Nate. You can dance."
"Not like that." Nate growled. And then, she did it. Her head went down and she pouted at him through her eyelashes.
Every nerve was screaming at him to say 'yes', but he kept it in. "No, Sophie." She sighed, looking more dejected and miserable than he had seen her for years. She turned away, and it did him in. "You owe me your life for this." He growled. Sophie glanced hopefully at him.
"You owe me."
She threw her arms around him. "Oh Nate, thank you so much! You'll see! It'll be fantastic."
Three weeks later and Nate was tugging uncomfortably at a tight black shirt. Only Sophie would find a performance and sucker him into it. At least she wasn't singing or acting. It was his only consolation prize that he was only dancing.
She came out in a flowing red dress, her hair flowing in curly waves along her shoulders. "Ready?"
"Why am I in tight black clothes?"
"Because, Nathan. It's the costume."
"It's a dance."
"It's a show. Have some fun. Come on. We're up next." She dragged him to the curtain, and minutes later, onto the stage.
Now I've had the time of my life…
Nate moved, pulling her arm up over his shoulder and resting her hand behind his neck. His hand slid slowly down her side, and when he felt her hand in his on her waist, they moved. The dance was simple, something Sophie had chosen from one of her favorite movies: Dirty Dancing. Nate was just the sucker she had conned into performing it with her, although Eliot would most likely have been the more obvious choice. Eliot wasn't the type to dance though, and Sophie knew that she could talk Nate into anything.
They danced, and there was nothing in Nate's world except for Sophie, so when she came towards him, the logical thing for him to do was the move: the lift. In a second, she was in the air, grinning and Nate smirked as he set her down, feeling her soft body slide along his.
Then, suddenly, it was over, her hand behind his neck again, smiling at him, and he smirked, singing along. "I've had the time of my life, and I owe it all to you…"
Truer words couldn't be found.
