A/N: Again, written late at night. All my ideas seem to come to me late at night, don't they? I've taken to sleeping with my laptop so that when inspiration hits I can write it immediately :P. Anyways, this takes place in Hermione's fifth year and Fred's seventh, before he left. This is my first published Fred/ Hermione story, but I have another, longer one coming soon. If you like this, keep your eyes peeled for my new one. It doesn't have a name yet, though. Anyways, enough with my rambling. Enjoy!

Hermione jumped as the thunder outside her dorm window boomed, taunting her. She room was filled with light for a moment as the lighting cracked. She pulled the covers over her head and took a deep breath. Just a storm, she tried to convince herself. Only a storm, it'll be okay. Come on Hermione, Harry has to deal with VOLDEMORT. If he's not scared of that then why should I be scared of this? Her mental convincing didn't do anything though and she let out a small whimper as the thunder boomed again. Finally she got out of bed, put on her robe and slippers and walked up the stairs to the seventh year boys' dorm.

"Fred?" She whispered, standing over her boyfriend's bed. The red haired boy groaned and slowly opened his eyes.

"Hermione?" He groaned. "What's going on?"

"I'm scared."

"Here," Fred whispered, so as not to wake his dorm mates. He moved over. "Come here." He patted the space next to him.

"Thanks," Hermione said quietly. She lay next to Fred and rested her head against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her protectively.

'So what's the matter?"He asked softly.

"I told you, I'm scared."

"Of what?"

"The thunderstorm," Hermione admitted.

"The thunderstorm." Fred repeated.

Hermione nodded.

Another thunder clap and Hermione whimpered and buried her face into Fred's chest. He stroked her hair softly and whispered,

"It's okay, it's just a storm."

"I know," Hermione said. "But ever since I was little, I've hated them. I know it's stupid, but I can't help it."

"It's all right, love," Fred murmured. "You can stay here tonight. I protect you from the big, bad storm." He smiled but Hermione didn't notice as the eerie light of lightning filled the room. She hugged Fred tightly and he squeezed her back, silently letting her know that he won't let anything bad happen to her. The pair fell asleep fairly soon, Hermione feeling safe and protected in Fred's arms.
