I looked up at Tony from across the room, watched him sleeping peacefully. It's hard to imagine that he had killed Michael, and it didn't matter anymore. This last case had hard on all of us, especially him. I smiled softly when he rolled over in his sleep, and the smile widened when the motion woke him up. He rubbed his eyes and muttered my name.

"Ziva?" I walked over and perched myself on the bed next to him.

"Yes Tony?" he looked at me and his eyes filled with tears. I don't think anything could have shocked me more. Dinozzo'snever cry.

"Why does everything have to be so bad?" the tears overflowed and there was nothing I could do except put my arms around him and hold him while he cried.

"I don't know Tony." He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his head in my chest, sobbing violently. He tried to speak, but it took a few tries to get the words out.

"She didn't deserve to die." His shaking slowed. "Little girls aren't supposed to die!" I rocked him back and forth, like he was a baby.

"I know Tony." Then we sat there, sitting in what could only be called an embrace. We stayed like that into the early hours of the morning. When I shifted my position slightly and Tony woke up again.

"Zee?" I smiled at the nickname.

"Hmm?" Tony looked up at me, and then leant back a little it, so he could see my face. He took my hand and begun playing with my fingers. I couldn't help how my heart reacted, fluttering away in my chest. He spoke, never looking away from my fingers.

"Can I tell you something?" I looked at him curiously, and then used my free hand to lift his chin up, enjoying the physical contact a little too much.

"Sure, what is it?" he finally met my gaze, his free hand coming up and stroking me on the cheek. He looked uncomfortable, and I thought it made him look adorable. I smiled encouragingly.

"I love you Zee." Inside, I felt a burst of happiness and I'm sure it showed in my eyes; he looked relieved.

"That's good. I love you too." He smiled then leant closer, the tip of his nose pressed against mine. My breathing sped, his gaze making it hard to concentrate. So I did the only thing I could do; I closed the small distance between our lips and kissed him gently. He responded, sliding closer and wrapping his arms around my waist. After a while, we broke away to breathe. He looked into my eyes, his bright green eyes intense; I got lost in their depths. Soon, way too soon, my eyes started to grow heavy. He smiled at me as I leant against his chest, succumbing to sleep. He kissed my forehead and whispered in my ear.

"Sleep Zee, sleep in peace." The last thing I remember was Tony humming a lullaby, his arms still wrapped tightly around me.
