Best Part Of My Day

Alice smiled brilliantly as she took a running leap, landing in the middle of the bed on her knees with a bounce. Jasper smirked slightly as he continued to read, pretending to ignore her. Alice pouted as she plopped forward landing with her arms sprawled across his stomach and her head resting in-between them. She kicked her legs absently as she turned her head sideways to look at him "I don't like being ignored."

"So I've noticed," he said with a smirk as he closed his book and put it on the nightstand. He reached forward and ran his hand down her hair then down her back, settling it on her lower back.

"I'm not bothering you am I?" she asked as she slid her arm down and ran her fingertips randomly along his stomach.

"You could never bother me," he said looking down at her with loving bright golden eyes. "The best part of my day is when I'm spending time with you."

Alice smiled shyly; even after fifty years of marriage he still managed to make her feel like they were newlyweds. "It's the best part of my day too," she whispered as she snuggled into his stomach and she closed her eyes. Jasper smiled at her fondly before letting out a content sigh and closing his eyes. They did not always need to talk, they were simply happy to just spend time together, even if it just meant lying together on a bed.
