She was sitting in the center of the teacher's desk in an unused classroom. She had been crying again and it was all his fault. Hermione Granger was best friends with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley but got along much better with one than the other. In fact she was very much crushing on Ron but he would always fight with her. Harry normally played the mediator or the observer when he did not feel like breaking them up or placating them.

This was the reason Hermione was sitting in the room in complete darkness crying her eyes out for the third time in five days. Harry had been hurt and locked up in the Hospital Wing for something that one could not blame him for. With him trapped, no one had been around to break the fights up between Hermione and Ron. She was so preoccupied that she didn't notice that someone else had entered the room. She was startled when she felt strong arms wrap themselves around her. She recognized the sent of the owner of said arms immediately.

"What are you doing out of the Hospital Wing, Harry?" She questioned him tearfully.

He didn't reply, just held her closer while stroking her untamable hair. He was a balm for her frayed heart. They stayed in their embrace for who knows how long. Eventually her tears dried and she calmed down considerably. She looked up and smiled gratefully at him. He gave her an answering smile.

Their eyes met and the world stopped. She didn't know what possessed her but she soon found herself kissing Harry Potter. They had moved in sequence with each other. It felt so right for her that she hadn't realized what was happening at first.

His arms were still around her and they made her fell safe. Time passed and soon it was impossible to tell which limbs belonged to whom. Her mind was completely blank and devoid of thought. They let their passion take hold of them and set their fears and insecurities aside. It was the first time for both of them.

They eventually broke apart and dressed themselves. Neither one looked away from the other. He approached her once more and placed his hand on her cheek and kissed her. This kiss was different thought. She didn't know how or why but she knew that he was saying good-bye to her. When they broke apart she had tears falling down her face.

"Don't leave me," she whispered to him, her voice cracking. He leaned down and whispered in her ear:

"Know that I would never willingly leave you, I love you and I will always be with you." He placed his hand over her heart, "here," then he moved his hand and placed it over her abdomen, "and here."

She awoke the next day feeling different but couldn't figure out why. Suddenly the night's events came crashing down on her. She flew out of her bed and dressed in a hurry. She ran the entire way to the Hospital Wing. When she arrived she gave a horrified gasp. Lying in the same bed Harry was in was a sheet that had been pulled over a corpse. She fainted.
