"...Where no one has gone before." The Enterprise warped off the screen and the credits began to flash across it. Penny cast a nervous glance at Sheldon, not sure what to make of his silence, then stood, walked to the light switch, flicked it on, and then returned to her seat next to Sheldon. She reached for the remote, but he stopped her.

"Surely you don't plan on stopping the movie before the credits are done." His eyes were still trained on the screen, reading each name as it crossed the set.

"I guess not." She flopped back against the couch and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for the credits to finish.

When they finally did Penny picked up the remote and shut the T.V. off.

Sheldon gave her an annoyed looked and lifted himself off the couch. He pushed the eject button to open the DVD tray and carefully extracted the disk.

"So, what did you think? Pretty awesome right?"

Sheldon did not answer right away. First he snapped the DVD into its case. Then, he slid it into its new place on his DVD rack. Finally, he turned back to her.

"I have some issue with how they portrayed Spock's character. However, I am ultimately pleased with the film."

Penny furrowed her brow. "How did they mess up Spock?" She gestured to the screen. "Leonard Nimoy was there. They couldn't screw him up in front of the original."

Sheldon sighed, slightly frustrated. He walked back to his seat to sit down next to her and folded his hands across his lap. Penny cursed inside her head. Had she really just invited Sheldon to tell her all the ways the new Spock couldn't live up to the original? What was wrong with her?

"My main issue is actually with the portrayal of his relationship with Uhura."

Penny guffawed. "Don't tell me you prefer him with Kirk."

He gave her a stern look. "No, Penny. I simply think that some of his actions were a bit out of character for a Vulcan."

"Huh?" Penny looked at him with a mixture of confusion and boredom.

"Take for instance all of the romantic oral contact— "

Penny raised an eyebrow.

"Fine," he rolled his eyes, "—kissing that occurred between them. In the transporter room for example."

"What was wrong with that? I thought it was hot!"

"As 'hot' as it may have been, it still wasn't the way a Vulcan would act, especially not one whose father was in the High Council. Anyway, that's beside the point. My main issue is that Vulcans kiss with their hand, not their mouths."

Penny cocked her head, intrigued. "With their hands? How?"

Sheldon shrugged and reached for her hand, wrapping the long thin fingers of his left around her wrist. She extended her fingers out with her palm up, and Sheldon lightly pushed down her pinky, her ring finger, and her thumb. He extended his own pointer and middle finger.

"Observe," and he pressed their fingers together.

The firm push of Sheldon's fingers against hers set Penny's skin on fire. She pulled her gaze away from the union of their fingers and drug her eyes up to study Sheldon's face. When she reached his eyes, she was surprised to see that Sheldon was staring back, a startling intensity in his stare. Penny laughed, trying to ease the awkwardness.

"So, I guess this is the one time you don't want to be Spock. If you were that'd mean you were actually kissing me." She tucked a loose hair behind her ear nervously with her free hand. Sheldon still didn't look away from her. If anything his scrutiny intensified. He pressed his lips together, as if pondering something terribly important.

Finally, he pulled his fingers away from hers. She immediately missed the heat of his skin.

"Yeah." He stood up and walked away from the couch, heading for the kitchen. "First time for everything."
