Was that how I kissed You?

He spotted her sitting on the bench, seemingly lost in thought. She had been acting weird for a couple days now, and the worst of it was that she had been strange around him. He didn't know if he had done anything to cause her distress, but he intended to find out. He sat down close to her. "Please tell me what's wrong, Kahoko. I hate seeing you upset."

"It's nothing. It's not a big deal."

"It's not nothing, obviously. You've been avoiding me, and I hate that you don't trust me enough to talk to me. Aren't we good friends by now?"

She paused, wondering how she could share a little to appease him, without giving him the entire embarrassing picture.

"I had a dream. It surprised me and now I can't stop thinking about it."

"I see. Will you tell me what the dream was about?"

He could see that she was fighting a huge inner battle. It broke his heart to see her so agitated, and yet the confines of their friendship dictated that he couldn't comfort her the way he wanted. He was tired of keeping a respectful distance, when what he really wanted was to hold her. Watching her nervously twist her fingers in her lap, he finally decided 'Screw it. I'm doing this.' He put an arm around her and rubbed her shoulder a couple times. She seemed a bit surprised at the unaccustomed physical contact, but she didn't pull away.

"Please, Kahoko. Tell me."

She sighed in resignation. "It wasn't a bad thing. I dreamed….." her voiced dropped almost to a whisper "I dreamed that you kissed me." Her gaze was locked on her fidgeting fingers.

He let out the breath he'd been holding. "Oh."

Suddenly instinct urged him to take action. Now is the time. Do it now. He leaned down and his mouth made contact with her cheek. "Did I kiss you like that?"

She looked up at him in shock. "No, you…" His mouth interrupted her words with another kiss. It was the way he wanted their first kiss to be: gentle, warm and loving. One hand was at the back of her head, the other on her shoulder as he softly pressed his lips against hers. He paid homage to her lower lip, then her upper lips before drawing back slowly. Her face was flushed and she was speechless, but she hadn't moved away.

"Was that how I kissed you, Kahoko?"

Before she could formulate a response, he pulled her closer and kissed her again. This time he was sensually brushing his lips over hers, and making the tiniest bit of contact with his tongue. He ached for her to kiss him back, to return the feelings he had long suppressed. He nudged her mouth softly against hers in a steady rhythm as his hand stroked the back of her neck. When she opened her mouth to lick his upper lip his heart leapt with joy. He stopped coaxing and settled into an easy pace, giving her enough room to find her own fire, while fueling it with his. She wound her arms around his neck and he pulled her closer.

When they caught their breath, he stroked her cheek and looked into her eyes with all the love in his heart. "Was that how it happened in your dream, Kahoko?"

She smiled, blushing. "This was even better."

"Can we do it again sometime soon?"

"How about now?" she smiled, reaching for him.
