Those were the only thoughts running through my head as I ran into the crisp winter air. I vaguely heard Darry and Soda calling my name, but no one running after me.
They really don't care about me, I thought.
My feet were moving of their own accord, and I did nothing to stop them. Suddenly, I saw bright red eyes, and felt two sharp things jab at my neck. Next came the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I wanted to call out for Darry or Soda, but then I remembered that they didn't love me, so I embraced the peaceful darkness.
Darry and I were extremely worried about Ponyboy. He's been missing for three days now! We've called the police, of course, but why would anyone care about a JD?
"I just can't understand where he could be. We've checked everywhere!," Darry stated, sitting in his favorite armchair, his eyes red from crying.
"Don't worry too much, Dar!," I replied gently, "He'll turn up soon. After all, Two-Bit, Steve, Dallas, and Johnny are out looking for him, and you know them. Once they set their mind on something, they never fail!"
